Shower water looked like pee

This hotel gave me the feeling that it is old and outdated. The room is smaller than expected. There was no space for anything but a small bar of soap on the sink. The worse part was the water. The water that came out of the shower was yellow. The drain in the bath tub was blocked so the accumulated water looked like a tube full of pee. We asked for help but they said that we should let the water run longer and it should clear up. We’ll, it didn’t.

Nice, cozy, convenient.

Nice, cozy, old fashion hotel. Very helpful staff, friendly and eager to help. Very conveniently located close to the hospital and nearby dinner and shops. Thanks to the underground and skyline connections, there was no need to go out in the extremely cold conditions. Rooms and bathrooms are a bit outdated, but were clean. Good gym, just needs some mats and to clean the machines daily.

It’s old! Some rooms really need an update, especially the bathrooms!!!! Never see any management any where as u go about your day. Housekeeping just ok! Ruth Chris is a nice addition, but pricey!! Lord Essex needs complete over haul!!! The only thing good is the location!! Bell people helpful with luggage and car!!

Only saving grace is easy Mayo access

Climate control - thermostat doesn't seem to work. We put it on the lowest setting and it was still hot in our room (during the winter). The front desk had fans ready to go, so it obviously wasn't their first go around with this. We had to sleep with the window open. The person who was sent to check the heat decided that we didn't need a fix since the window was able to open. Smell- there's a popcorn store in the Mayo subway beneath the hotel. On the 4th floor (where we stayed), there was a strong movie theater butter type smell. Bathroom- small with old style that's been painted over. Water went back & forth from hot to cold during showers. Bed- mattress was pretty firm, a little lumpy. Tv- we couldn't get any local channels. Luckily we brought our Chromecast. Also it's an old LG 720p from 2008 (we checked). Parking- lot not clearly labeled externally as being related to hotel. Hotel doesn't manage lot & you have to pay the lot directly, so DO NOT LOSE THE RECEIPT YOU RECEIVE UPON ENTERING. Otherwise you pay $48.
