This was my first visit to El Salvador. Originally, I planned to stay four days split between two different hotels, but I was advised to stay in the Zona Rosa area since it is easy to drive anywhere from there. Based on that recommendation, I booked this hotel, although I had to make two separate reservations. On my last night, I was asked to change rooms, and I still did not fully understand why. This was a bit frustrating because I had to wake up very early to pack my belongings, and in the process I forgot my phone charger in the previous room. When I returned tired later in the day, I found that the air conditioning and the refrigerator in the new room were not working. At that point I was exhausted and frustrated, so I may have been a bit demanding at the front desk. I also had to go back several times because the room key kept failing and had to be reprogrammed. The hotel does not offer valet parking, so if you are not used to parking in small spaces, this can be challenging, especially at night when there are fewer available spots. That said, I want to highlight the effort made by the staff. They successfully recovered my charger and quickly sent maintenance to fix the air conditioning and the refrigerator. The hotel is very clean, and the staff is attentive and professional. Breakfast is served on the 9th floor, and they also offer light food in the evening, although the variety is limited. We enjoyed our stay at Barcelo. The hotel is located in a very nice area close to a lot of shopping centers, restaurants and calm area to jog. Everything you need is walking distance. The staff was truly wonderful and the hotel itself is beautiful a perfect combination of charming and modern.

Absolutely enjoyed the hotel. Unfortunately, left with a bad experience. Had a Snickers from the mini fridge that old. When I was checking out I mentioned it to the receptionist. She question me about the Snickers. How did I know it was old? Did I checked the expiration date and if I still had the Snickers. Apparently the picture I showed her wasn’t enough. She said that she was going to send someone into the room to verify that the snicker was in the trash bin. Mind you, we stayed for 2 nights. Having housekeeping clean the room a day before checking out. Spend a total of almost $600 for both nights, yet I was questioned as if I was trying to get away for paying for a 4 dollar candy bar? It was the manner she talked to me with. When I told her it was fine that I would just pay for it that I had to leave and had no time for all that back-and-forth. She said I figured with a condescending tone. I didn’t appreciate being treated like a thief over a $4 candy bar.

This is an older property that has been well kept for the most part. The electrical system needs updates and the elevators are slow and cranky. The Executive Lounge and snacks was something I had never experienced before and was very convenient. The place has NO ramp up to the front door, which needs to be corrected.
