Holidays in Scottsdale

Can't sleep? Tossing and turning all night? Could be that intrepid spirit of yours! So what are you waiting for? Get up, get yourself some brekkie and book a trip to Scottsdale!

It lies 670 kilometres south of Canberra, Australia's capital city.

Spend a day walking along the shore and relaxing with a seaside picnic at Bakers Beach or Badgers Beach.

You won't need to be stuck on the highway all day to see some nature around these parts. Just 45 kilometres out of Scottsdale, Cataract Gorge is a wonderful place to kick back and unwind. More delightful surrounds are waiting for you at Little Blue Lake, 40 kilometres away.

Set aside time to visit the Scottsdale Art & Framing to reflect and fully embrace the local culture.

Whether you're an Australian rules football (AFL) lover or you just want to be a part of the thrilling atmosphere, try to watch a live game at Aurora Stadium, the home ground of the Hawthorn Hawks. You'll find the arena 45 kilometres away in Meander Valley Council.

You'll discover even more just around the corner. Branxholm, 18 kilometres to the east, is popular for the Derby Schoolhouse Museum and the Derby Tin Mine Centre. Though, if the Bridport Golf Club and the Barnbougle Dunes are more your thing, travel 20 kilometres northwest from Scottsdale to Bridport.

About 40 kilometres to the southwest, Mowbray is a place with lots on offer. City Park, the National Automobile Museum and Royal Park are close by. That said, Launceston College and the Queen Victoria Museum are also worthy.

Would you like to nibble, gnaw, crunch, munch and swig your way across Northeast Tasmania? A world of delectable flavours awaits you here, so get on your stretchiest slacks and bon appétit!

Once you find a table and flip through a restaurant or café menu, you'll soon discover that beef and salmon are two ingredients popular in the local cuisine.

When in Scottsdale, dine like the locals do. That means sitting down to a meal of salt and pepper squid or meat pie, a couple of the region's most loved dishes.

Peach melba is a dessert that summarises this place in just one bite. Put in an order for a serving and then come back for more!

It can be hard to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to excellent beers, but one brew worth knocking back is Cascade Special Stout. Grab a pint and bottoms up!

Neat or mixed — your barkeeper should know the best way to enjoy a glass of Bundaberg Spiced Rum. If the evening begs for something with a little more bite, you can't go past it!

You needn't be an authority on vino to enjoy a nice drop! Here, Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and Huon Valley Pinot Noir are the best of the bunch.

It's always sad when you have to head home. However, your time in the beautiful Northeast Tasmania region will have made you richer, no matter how little of your holiday budget is left in your pocket.

Making it to your plane on time can sometimes be an ordeal. However, you'll be right if you've made a plan. The nearest terminal, Tullamarine Airport (MEL), is 450 kilometres to the northwest.
