The Good: Check-in and access to the building and my room were very easy and convenient. The room and shared bathroom were clean and attractive. The neighborhood is fantastic & very lively on the weekends.
The Bad: I wasn't expecting high-end hotel luxury, but the king size bed was very uncomfortable. I could feel the bedframe through the very thin mattress, it felt like sleeping on an old fold-out couch.
Overall, the good outweighed the bad, and it was worth the relatively low price. I would stay here again, but I would hope the bed quality could be improved.
I loved the convenience and charm of this hotel/hostel! Wonderful kitchen amenities, clean bathrooms, comfy bed. I wish they included soap on the shower and provided earplugs. It's right in a lively street so there's some street noise and earplugs would help. I'll definitely stay again!
I don't usually leave bad reviews, but I texted and called the number that the hotel provided with questions and I never received a text back. I would have assumed that it was a one-off, but while I was there, another guest who had a reservation was stuck outside. When I asked him if he needed help, he said that he had never heard back from the hotel staff to get his code for entry or room assignment. When I checked in on him about an hour later, he was still waiting to hear back and was considering having to sleep in the lobby.
Loved the atmosphere the brick walls gave off such a cozy, New York vibe. Watching the autumn leaves through the window made it even more beautiful.
I took off one star because my private room smelled a bit like cigarette smoke, but overall, I really enjoyed my stay.
Clean bathrooms, fine room, well equipped and clean kitchen. We knew this ahead of time but the bathrooms are shared. This place is a cross between hotel and hostel. Great location too.
I stayed here many years ago when the hostel was a lot more functional than it is currently. Now, there's no staff on-site, so it's impossible to have any problems dealt with. Our room had a broken window and smelled like wet dog/stagnant water the whole time. They offered us an air freshener for that but never delivered it. The property also advertises "private bathrooms" with the private rooms... however, the bathrooms are down the hall and not protected by lock or key code, which means everyone is free to use them regardless of whether they paid for a private room or not. When raising each of these issues (via text - because again, there's not a soul there) they said "it's a hostel" as if that means they don't need to worry about basic standards of cleanliness and privacy.
Honestly was way better than expected, bed is more comfortable than some hotels I’ve stayed at, I like that we have a private room and everything else is shared, it’s nice if you’re someone who is social and want to make new friends
