Relax like a pro during your annual leave. From its mellow green spaces to scores of independent coffee shops where you can tap away at your memoirs, tentatively entitled Have I Packed Enough Pants? , Seattle is the embodiment of chill. It’s a diverse and lively city, where you can find any scene you’re keen on (and maybe some you didn’t even know about). It’s full of art, music and delicious grub—and we can get you the best deals on Seattle hotels, so what are you waiting for?
Bring your wellies to party here, since the rain doesn’t slow anything down in the Emerald City. It’s home to eclectic eateries, microbreweries and cultural institutions. Hotels in Seattle’s downtown are near the famous Pike Place Market and Seattle Aquarium. Take a trip up the Space Needle for panoramic views of the city and beyond. Grab a local brew (java or beer) and settle into your stay in the Pacific Northwest. Other surrounding neighbourhoods, like Pioneer Square, feature loads of galleries and performance spaces. Capitol Hill is home to a lot of the city’s bright, young creative population, so there’s always something exciting going. Head here for the nightlife. Dance until the early hours, sip down hand-crafted cocktails from someone with a perfect manbun and make new friends at one of the area’s hot spots.
When you feel like being a bit of a feral, head for the Ballard Locks, to see the fish ladders and enormous salmon, or one of several parks popular with locals and holiday-makers. Less than 90 km outside the city, you can find other Washington hotels near the base of Mt. Rainier, the tallest peak in the state. The hiking’s great, but it’s just as fun to grab a hot cocoa and enjoy the scenery.
Once you land at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA-TAC for short) and pass through customs, you’ll ride an airport train to the main terminal, where you can pick up your luggage and move on your way to your Seattle accommodation. The Link Light Rail operates between the airport and downtown, so it’s a convenient way to bypass traffic and get right to the action. Your hotel may have a shuttle pick-up available, but it’s also easy to hire a taxi or commercial van on arrival.
Public buses here are simple to use, with the extensive Metro Transit system. For a bit more freedom, it could be worth it to book a hire car to get around on your Seattle holidays. Amtrak trains run through Seattle to other cities along the coast. Since you’ve got your passport with you already, hop a ferry from the harbour for a day trip to Vancouver.
