I stayed at The Langham Pasadena last week. While the hotel itself is beautiful, my experience was one of the worst I’ve had, especially considering the reputation and price of this property.
We booked through Expedia and were given a room with no hand soap, no towels, a leaking toilet tank that refilled loudly every 45 minutes throughout the night, and a clogged shower drain. The constant noise made it very difficult to sleep.
When I reported these issues to the front desk, I was told that because the reservation was made through Expedia, they could not do much to help, which was extremely disappointing. Booking through Expedia should not result in receiving a lower standard room or reduced service.
They waived one night’s resort fee.
I was also an Expedia VIP guest, but that status did not seem to matter at all.
This is a great hotel with potential, but the way this situation was handled — especially shifting responsibility because of a third-party booking — was unacceptable. I hope Expedia takes a closer look at how partner hotels treat guests who book through their platform.
