The staff were lovely, dealing with two wedding parties on consecutive days. They had to do so much to change the main reception rooms within just a few hours for another purpose, and it was all done so willingly and politely and speedily. A very impressive establishment

We very much enjoyed our stay, the grounds and the view are breathtaking. I liked that we had a four poster bed and that the furnishings around the hotel were old in style. Everything was clean and tidy. We especially enjoyed the spa facilities. The only complaint I have was that our neighbours kept banging their door shut throughout the night, obviously this is not anything the the staff would be able to have changed but very disruptive for our one night stay. Breakfast didn’t seem to run that smoothly. We asked for toast that came out after our other breakfast order had been finished and taken away. However it was a very nice breakfast and the toast was worth waiting for.

Lovely country house hotel set in the Thames valley and overlooking the river Thames from the surrounding hills. Nice walks around the gardens. Excellent food in the restaurant and a great full English breakfast. Room was well presented with large bathroom, shower over bath. We had a room with a separate sitting area which had great views out over the valley and river. Wi-Fi, etc worked well, two TV’s one in each room. Did not use the large pool or Spa.

The grounds are outstanding, however feels a bit like it is set up more for weddings than guests. Rooms are a bit shabby now, bathrooms poor for the cost. Spa facilities are good however again run down and shabby bathrooms and showers etc. Rooms would need a complete refurb. Beautiful gardens so would recommend for a day trip

We had a really lovely 3 night stay here last week. The hotel itself is beautiful and the grounds are immaculate. The spa and gym is fantastic with a variety of treatments, super friendly and accommodating therapists. The room itself was large and with everything you could ask for. Really well laid out. My only suggestion would be to highlight that there are fitness classes in the welcome book - I love Pilates and only found out there was a Pilates class happening as I saw a poster in the gym area when I went to meet my husband. The only niggle I had is one day the biscuits weren’t replenished by housekeeping in our room. We stayed here with our baby and every person we met was so welcoming and understanding - not once did we feel we were an inconvenience- even when she cried! Really thankful for how lovely the atmosphere was made by all of the staff we met. A truly wonderful stay from a very tired set of parents - thank you for helping us relax and feel restored! We will be back.

AMAZING VENUE

Absolutely stunning property and such great staff, rooms, vista...everything. A must stay if you're ever passing through. Also the food in the restaurant was just incredible.

No Longer Luxury! Tired and Scrimp on costs

This used to be a beautiful hotel that we recommended but is now very tired and clearly struggling due to going into administration in 2022 and acquired by Danesfield Hotel and Resorts Ltd. We booked a Deluxe room that should have had a Four Poster bed or Access to Terrace - Room 308 has neither. (It does have a Half Tester Headboard which is not a 4 Poster). There is no lift as it doesn't work, when I asked how long it had been out of order I was told 3 years! We were on the 2nd/3rd floor (or 2.5 flights of stairs) so whilst I embrace exercise this was not appreciated after my room neither had a 4 poster bed or Terrace Access. The reason we booked was for a wedding anniversary as we got married at Danesfield House. We are repeat customers and have stayed many times before. Sadly this will most likely be our last stay until the hotel has undergone some serious repair & maintenance. The staff were polite but not many around and you can tell the hotel has undergone serious cost cutting exercises so its no longer a luxury hotel. Such a shame as it could be amazing if initiative was applied and tweaks were made which wouldn't cost that much if anything. The food was OK, however, we Paid for an Afternoon Tea/Picnic with a bottle of Champagne and was given a bottle of English Sparkling wine... Definitely not Champagne as advised so this was very misleading as was our room and scrimping on costs. LOYAL RETURNING CUSTOMERS LOST AND WILL NO LONGER RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS

Pay for bigger better room for restful stay

I knowlingly booked my stay aware it was a very old character ful hotel, i certainly wasnt expecting all the new mod cons like a Jaoanese toilet seat or even air con (aware from other reviews of the smaller rooms) And u actually enjoyed the history, the old paintngs, furniture etc The staff were excellent, special mention to the evening dining staff, though maybe the younger bar staff of an evening could keep their conversations a little more professional when guests are sat there If i was in a Holiday Inn i wouldnt even think twice but when youre paying such high prices, you expect a certain level of decorum The grounds are beautiful and i enjoyed finding little nooks to read my book or listen to music The breakfast price if not included in the room is extortionate at £26 in my opinion. It was ok but not THAT good to be worth £26 im afraid. No coffee machine or fridge in room. There was a fan provided which i had to keep on all night as was so hot, this didnt bother me in itself but it didnt really do the job, plus the bed was two singles joined together, i imagine this is due to the room being in the eves and not being able to get a double in there perhaps but it made my sleep totally broken, the bed was so uncomfortable, its my main issue with the stay and the main thing you need for a restful weekend! So sadly for all the lovely history, staff, amazing dinner and grounds, the reason for my stay was rest and i came away more tired than i arrived
