Good sound-insulation, convenient location but...

I'll go through the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good was that the hotel is across the street from the train station, T-Centralen, with direct subway access next door to the building and close access to the Arlanda Express Train to the airport, making this convenient to get in/out of Stockholm. The location is excellent for shopping and walking to Gamla Stan. You are across the street from a major department store Åhlens (similar to Macy's) and the pedestrian shopping street Drottningatan. Several eateries are a short walk. Even though it's a busy area, it was quite well sound-insulated. The breakfast buffet is both huge and varied including English/American breakfast with eggs and bacon (and even Swedish meatballs!) and the Nordic style (sandwiches) with plenty of fresh fruit, yogurt, and veggies, but this is typical of Swedish hotels. The bad is that the room decor isn't very pleasant since the trend seems to be dark grey walls and a dreary color scheme. Also the beds were NOT comfortable, they were lumpy and firm. Since it was July, it was unusually warm, and the thermostat didn't really give good A/C. Apparently, most agreed because all the fans were taken. Another little complaint was the non-existent plastic bags in the waste bins. There was 1 tiny one in the corner of the room. I understand that they're trying to be eco-friendly, but it didn't feel so sanitary as our trash piled up.

This property came with a steep price tag and we were very disappointed in the room and amenities. First - there was no phone in the room to call the front desk, room service etc. Perhaps that would be fine if there was signage or something pointing out the best way to reach someone. When I asked the front desk they said some rooms don't have phones and you can use the one in the hallway or your cell phone. At one point we used our cell phone and no one ever answered. The furniture in the room was odd - a lot of side tables and ottomans but no dressers, no drawers, cabinets and no mini fridge. The 'snacks' we could pay for took up all of the table space in the room. The towels were thin and flimsy. The room had air conditioning but the thermostat was so old and there was no way of knowing what temperature the room was set at. They provided a very cheap looking standing fan to use if it got too warm in the room. The location was convenient however it seemed the benches outside attracted the only 2 or 3 homeless people in Stockholm and a lot of garbage. On a bright note, the staff was king and helpful.

Breakfast was nice however at times was way too crowded for the space. There are no phones in rooms which i found really odd. No way to contact front desk for anything. Or if emergency. Shower had very low water pressure and did not heat up very well.
