We chose this cabin for our yearly mountain getaway solely for the description of the fishing outback and ponds in the photos. Unfortunately, the water outback was about 4 inches deep with no fish whatsoever and the ponds were on a different property that we were not allowed to access. When we arrived to the cabin, the thermostat was set at 55 and the heat would not cut on until midday the next day. We didn’t bring firewood ourselves, assuming the heat would work – so we had to search the woods at night in the frigid cold to find wood ourselves to burn ( it had been raining so just grabbing some from outside the door that wasn’t wet wasn’t an option). That continued throughout the night and into the next day. As temperatures continued to drop inside and outside-we reached out to VRBO as soon as we realize the heater was not working correctly and they just wanted pictures of the thermostat. There was also no heat whatsoever in the downstairs “game room”area. The cabin itself was OK, but definitely looked like it had been a while since it was occupied before us due to the cobwebs. There was also no dishwasher so we had to hand wash everything. We based our trip entirely around the photos and description of the water, so we could have looked past almost everything else had we actually had the opportunity to fish.. That was by far the most disappointing part of our trip this year.

This was a perfect place for a quick getaway. The hot tub was great after a day of hiking. The property was gorgeous on a morning walk, and the house had everything we needed to cook and play. The kids enjoyed the playroom downstairs, and the back porch was a cozy spot to read a book and listen to the creek.

The cabin was nice but it could use a little maintenance. The inside had spider webs in several rooms and couldn’t see the view for the trees. That may have just been the time of year.

This cabin is ok if you want to just chill and not do much. It needs some renovations as everything in it is kind of old. It is located far from other things that you want to do in case. There’s a lot of cameras around the property and does not feel like there’s a lot of privacy. The jacuzzi was nice and we did not know if we need to bring our own charcoal for the grill. There was wood available and that was ok too. The creek and the bonfire was at the bottom of the cabin and that was ok.

I’ve stayed there many times! Love that cabin, incredible grounds! Union County Police woke me up at 4:00 on a supposed 911 call? Looking for a Tammy???? The local dispatcher Obviously sent them on a wild goose chase. Total mystery possible prank or hoax. That was an unexpected disappointment. However….my stay was wonderful.

Great property. Lots of flowing water within 50 yards of the cabin. Spent four days there with a friend and our teenage boys. It was everything we had hoped for our mountain, fishing experience. We have a few opportunities to meet the family that owned the property. They were very nice and welcoming. We will be returning for our annual fishing trip moving forward

The river house is great. The creek runs just a hundred yards away from the house. The creek was the highlight for my elementary age kids. There is a fire pit for s’mores next to the creek, it is shallow and slow enough for littles, it was cool and refreshing on a summer day, and we probably spent half of our time there. The house is also not far from sea creek falls and preacher rock on the Appalachian trail-making those easy to get to and enjoy. The Mountain Views, creek sounds, and wildlife watching were great. The house had plenty of room for my family of 5. The beds were clean and comfy. Someone expressed concern about the dirt/gravel road leading from the highway to the house. But, our minivan did not have trouble. The only negatives were minor: there was not internet available during our stay and it was not able to be addressed until after our stay. It was not a big deal since we came to disconnect, but still wanted to be able to reach family by phone and look up locations of local attractions. The host was helpful and provided directions when we inquired at the store a few minutes away. The other negative was cleanliness. Most of the home was clean enough. But we found several dead bugs on sills and in corners of the rooms. Maybe to be expected in the woods. It didn’t affect our stay, but was worth noting. Overall a great stay!

Hi! Here is my feedback:Awesome location. Really enjoyed the quiet property and access to the creek. We will come back. Check in was smooth and we appreciated the prompt answers to our questions, over text message.Things to improve:1. The washing machine is malfunctioning. It appears to wash but does not spin very well on the wash cycle. I had to run it a few times on the drain cycle to drain the clothes. I recommend getting a new washer.2. The dryer also does not work very well. Had to run it a few times to dry clothes. Plus the exhaust air pipe was unplugged. I hooked it back up but it needs a metal clamp to fully secure. Recommend just getting a new dryer.3. Battery powered kitchen lights don't work4. On the path down to the creek/hammock I noticed a dead tree that seems to be barely hanging on. I suggest cutting it down so it does not hurt anyone5. Provide more towels to dry dishes with6. Charge Apple TV remote

Relaxing place

Everything was as advertised. Interior was clean and inviting, bed was comfortable, area was quiet, but the outdoor living spaces could have used a broom accessible or blower to clean concrete when travelling to/from the jacuzzi. I know it is outdoor, but didn't look like it had been cleaned in a while. Everything else was great. .

Beautiful Private Getaway

We really enjoyed our stay at this private cabin. It was clean and comfortable. The porches are absolutely awesome, especially the screened in part where you can hear and see the creek. It was exactly what we were looking for. I had to knock off some stars for having no cell service. I don't really have an issue having no cell service, but the internet was also down so we had no way to communicate unless we drove out until we had service. The internet was eventually fixed, but more than half our stay it was not accessible. It ended up being fine; just a little inconvenient. Another thing that is a little misleading by the photos is the fire pit. It's located down a steep hill with no real path. Not ideal for most, but especially for small children. The listing also states the property is 300 acres, but I don't think the house itself sits on 300 independent acres. It is very private, but it seems there is a small community back there down a stone road. The host did have great communication (when we had service) and we loved the cabin. We enjoyed having a break for a week and walking the creek!Important things to bote

Magical Mountain Escape for me and my dog!

The location is great and very private with a large babbling brook running right through the property! You can see it and hear it from the expansive screened in porch. Very comfortable inside with all you could need. The hot tub was so relaxing and sits outside under the stars. Set in the woods up in the mountains, you couldn’t ask for a better mountain experience.
