Clean and everything was nice, beyond the room service. Under the bed there was broken glass, and the shower drain wasn’t working properly. You do have to grab your own toilet paper and towels or ask for them if you run out.

My family of four stayed at Shell Island for just one night. It met our needs and it was nice to have an oceanfront view. The place feels a bit dated (old fixtures, etc), so it does feel a bit pricey at $350+ per night. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and we were allowed to check in 2 hours before normal check in, so we really appreciated that a lot. All in all, it was a good/satisfactory stay.

When I checked in I was told front desk would call me when my room was ready. I waited for over an hour and a half and went to front desk to ask about room. I was told there was a maintenance hold on my room. I had to ask, “so what do I do” and was told they would try to find another room for me. They could have called and told me that 1.5 hours ago. No one seemed to care.

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort, having never stayed at Wrightsville Beach. The only reason I was somewhat unhappy was the fact that the restaurant and bar closed on two out of our 3 days there. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was because it has a restaurant and bar. We like to relax at a resort and not have to drive to eat. Because the restaurant was not open we had to drive to eat. I will book this hotel again but next time I will take some food with me.

Go For the Beach, Run From the Room

Look, if you’re coming here to stay on the beach, it’s a good spot. Relatively calm area, not too busy. But for the price, the dirt in the room was unacceptable, the facilities felt a little run down, and the TV remotes didn’t even work. I’d go back to the beach at this area for sure, but maybe a place down the road.

The rooms were great! The Jack—n-Jill bathrooms were perfect. The view was fantastic and the staff very accommodating.

The property is showing it’s age a little bit, but still very nice setting with nice pool and nice beach front. The staff was especially courteous. The restaurant did not have regular hours during my stay. Maybe short staffed.

Stayed more than once, won’t stay again though

I have stayed at this “resort” several times and made referrals. Unfortunately after this trip, I won’t be returning. The first night we stayed, I attempted to turn the air in the room down and the thermostat cut off completely and the heat kicked on. It got hot in there FAST. Called the front desk who said maint. would not be back until the morning & the only thing they could offer us was a new room. It was midnight… so at midnight I had to pack up the entire room & my 4 year old & move - to a room with a bed made for the Flintstones. I understand things happen and thankfully they were able to accommodate us in the moment. The issue was we were told a manager would contact us the following morning but we never heard from them. I followed up that evening and another note was left in the system as well as a written note requesting they contact us. The following day, still nothing. So when I checked out, I asked to speak to them before I left and Scott the manager was supposedly on a phone call but the sweet lady at the front desk was told that he would speak with the general manager and SHE (front desk rep) would contact us the next day. I received 2 calls that day to confirm we were out of the room - but yet it’s been over a week and still haven’t heard from anyone. Seems Scott can’t be bothered. On top of that, resort fees and room costs went up…but no comp coffee, drunks at the pool, min. on room service, breakfast is not complimentary and is mediocre at best etc.

The room was nice. We had to get extra towels and sheets and blankets. There was only 2 sets of towels in the room. The sofa bed had no sheets or blanets. The view is amazing. The bathroom was clean but definitely should be remodeled. There was water damage around the tub and a small hole in the wall near the vanity mirror. Beds are old spring mattresses.

Solo retreat

Clean hotel and staff were kind. Pool and beach walk way area were kept very clean by hard working man. The room itself needed new carpet and adding a throw blanket would have been nice along with dish cloths for the kitchen sink area.
