Rooms were small but usual size for European hotel.
Shower was not draining but told the front desk and they fixed the issue.
Close to St Mark square and other sights
Breakfast had good selection

Staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. Nice room and decor. Breakfast had a good spread and you could ask for extras like hot chocolate. Bed was a bit hard but they provided a mattress topper to make it more comfortable. Room was hot and the air conditioning was not being turned on until May, which we would’ve liked to have known beforehand but it was okay with all the windows open. Housekeeping very good and came daily with fresh towels and product top ups. Mini fridge and safe in room was convenient. Lovely building. Very convenient right near San Marco square. Would recommend it and stay again.
Royal San Marco Hotel is in a perfect location- close to Piazza San Marco, shopping and dining options. While the rooms are rather small, they are comfortable and functional. The breakfast is wonderful and the staff are friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend a stay here!

We loved the San Marco Hotel! It is in a perfect place, convenient to food and entertainment. Breakfast was great, the staff were very accommodating. One thing we loved about the hotel is that it is old, it gave us the feel of old world Venice. If you are looking for a new fancy hotel, this is not the one. It is definitely old world charm.
Great location just off St Marks Square so very easy to walk or take boats to all the sights in Venice. Breakfast was included in price. Breakfast room had windows overlooking a canal which was nice. Plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants for supper. Helpful hotel staff.
This property was absolutely disgusting. We found bedbugs in my kids bed and ended up getting bit up bad. Had to go to a local pharmacy and get ointment for her bites. Pharmacist was appalled when he saw her bites and provided us with spray to spray our stuff.
Staff was not surprised or apologetic when they were told. They gave us a different room and no other compensation. You could hear through the walls really easily, and the water was always cold. I would never in a million years recommend this place to anyone.
The room we booked was impossibly small and dated. Bathroom was small and worn.
We upgraded and paid more for a suite which was newer and nice. It cost €50 more per night in Feb 2025 (off season)
The photo I relied on showed a nice bed. Unfortunately that bed took up virtually the entire room. We barely could squeeze in our luggage.
What a lovely hotel and so wonderfully close to everything! Literally one minute from St. Marks Square. And, the breakfast is very probably the best hotel breakfast I have every had. Highly recommend.

Ideal location but not sure how it’s a 4-star rating. Staff were nice enough but not entirely helpful- not mentioning things like where the breakfast is or even the direction to the rooms upon checkin! Biggest gripes were the bed - SO uncomfortable - and the noise. We heard everything from the room upstairs including their television, talking, furniture moving and footsteps, so sleep was disturbed further (once finally able to fall asleep on the bad mattress!). We did always have our bed made and toiletries topped up but minimum expectations of a ‘4-star’ hotel. Breakfast was average, thank goodness included.
The hotel is a block from St. Mark’s Square and about a ten minute walk from the Rialto Bridge. There are many restaurants and shops in the vicinity. The downsides are the condition of the room (needs a reno) and the old-fashioned key which is very impractical. Our adult daughter wanted to stay behind one evening and we had to either lock her in (a safety issue in case of emergency) or leave the key with her and hope she woke up to let us in. The front desk would not give us a second key.
