Total hidden gem just off the 101 in Ventura. Feels like a time warp in the best way—think ‘60s beach motel meets vintage Hawaii. Super peaceful, no road noise, just ocean waves right outside your window (which you can actually open!). Rooms are clean, vibe is chill, views are unreal. Great dinner spot downstairs and free continental breakfast. Only gripe: no in-room coffee and none available till 7:30am. Still, I’d come back in a heartbeat.

waste of money for a terrible stay

their website said the restaurant was closed on mondays .... when in fact it was open. we ate at a different place enroute ... the lights next to the nightstand was burned out and had to request another. sometime during the night, the power went out so some of our electronic equipment never charged completely. Since there was no power, breakfast was dismal. the fruit looked days old, could not make toast, could not heat any bagels, coffee was connected to a generator. the hotel was old and the floor sloped severely toward the ocean. there was no beach access .... just a bad experience ...

The continental breakfast is a bit boring. Mostly baked goods you buy in packages. The restaurant downstairs is very decent but it's pricey. The bed was decent, though it had a sort of skirt on it that was really stained and gross. They should toss those. The room was ok. A bit dated. Damage here and there but it was clean. We would probably stay here again as the ocean is right there and theyre decent enough but understand this isnt a luxurious stay in the slightest. Very average.

Basics Missing

The pool and location was amazing but everything else lacked for the price paid. Rooms were nice but basic and dated, breakfast was very poor with little choice available, mini pastries were the only thing available and coffee was inedible filter. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it appeared busy and again the location/view was great. We went for a drink at 9pm and were snapped at because the restaurant and bar were apparently due to close at 8pm. Felt like we were there for the properties convenience instead of vice versa. A shame as it has a lot of potential.

Dated but delightful

Amazing view. Waves pounding on the rocks. Exceptional dining. Beautiful pool. The rooms however are clean but dated with few amenities. I measured the distance from the shower head to the drain was 5’2”. I’m not saying the rooms need a major overhaul but the little persons shower head needs replacing and relocating. Also like many shoreline hotels, no AC. However because of the incredible view and dining we will stay here again.

Pretty good stay

Great views and a nice sized King room. Has everything you need for a comfy stay. With a little attention to detail, this place could be great. The pool area was relaxing but could use cleaning throughout the day; it got pretty gross by mid afternoon. We had to ask housekeeping to have our sticky floor cleaned again. And the alarm clock was never reset after the prior guest, so it went off at 6am. Also note that there aren’t other bars and restaurants in walking distance. You’ll need a car or rideshare to get to any kind of activity.

Stress relieving stay

Our favorite getaway! Hot water in shower an issue AGAIN, (every stay), but overall a beautiful stay. Shoals restaurant was a disappointment. Service was slow and just average. Understaffed. Paper menus, really? Food was good, not excellent. Besides all that, overall a beautiful property. Needs some work, but we will return.

Terrible! Don’t stay here!

We went here for our wedding anniversary weekend only to have to leave after the first night. This is a hotel that needs to be torn down and start over with new construction. It’s old and smells like mold and old cigarettes. Paint is peeling everywhere and needs walls that are made for soundproofing so you’re not hearing the people in the room next door having sex and his bed frame banging on the wall between us. We could hear everything and the words they are speaking. The bed was us bad as sleeping in a hammock! You can’t even move in the bed without it making so much noise it keeps you awake. I could barely move in the morning because it messed up my back. The breakfast they advertised was a total joke! It was like being at a homeless soup kitchen. This is a flea bag hotel! It’s sad because this is a beautiful location and they have a wonder restaurant but the hotel needs to be completely redone.
