Negatives:
Mandatory £100 reserved on your card on check-in "just in case" you decide to order room service. This feels cheeky. I'd rather pay for room service as and when it's used.
£15 for parking in the hotel grounds. This makes you feel like you're being fleece. Surely parking should be included in the stay.
Overall the food was good, but while the chips certainly looked the part they were undercooked and hard inside.
Hotel looks nice in some places but a little tired in others. There's work currently being done to the hotel and I assume from our bathroom which looked modern that our room had been done, but the room itself looked a little worn with several tears on the wallpaper.
Positives:
Perfect location close to town and with a lovely view over the lake. We walked into town from the hotel.
Very friendly and attentive staff. Service was great.
Apart from the disappointing chips, the food was good.
Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Great bacon and sausages in the full English.
The staff was very helpful. Breakfast buffet was wonderful. The building and grounds were beautiful and a reminder of the elegant past. We arrived at night and woke up to a beautiful view of the lake. Highly recommend.
I always love staying at this hotel. I know they are currently working on the property, but it is always a pleasure to stay here. The food is very good as well and the staff is friendly.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
We stayed in the four poster suite which was this hotel’s highest offering. Although the views were nice the windows in the room were dirty. The bed was uncomfortable, you could feel the springs, and the pillows were not great. The sofa in our room was stained and the curtains / drapes were coming off their curtain hooks which made them awkward to close. The staff were setting up for an event in the conference room below and the noise was irritating when in our room ( this went on until 11pm). Staff were friendly and the breakfast choices were good. Overall, I think this was vastly overpriced for the room, especially when you had to pay a further £15 to park your car!
Staff extremely polite friendly and welcoming. Room clean and great view with very comfortable beds. There was some painting work being carried out on the building but this in no way spoilt our stay. Breakfast was also excellent 😊 definitely going to stay again
Very nice hotel in an excellent location. The staff overall were very good with the star being Philip in the lobby. Simply excellent customer service all the time - a real credit to the hotel.
The building and location are fantastic.
The furniture inside is tacky and dated. The beds are so uncomfortable and the outdoor seating area could be glorious.
The lift needs manual intervention each time for it to descend - it’s 2025…time for an upgrade.
No toiletries, not even slippers were provided.
The buffet is equivalent to premier inn’s.
We stayed in a double lake view room and it was very spacious and comfortable with a very large double bed. The hotel itself is ideally located for exploring Bowness and south lakes. The staff were brilliant and the service was exceptional.
My only negatives would be that charging paying customers £15per day for car parking seems a little excessive given that this is a private car park and not open to the public. We also added the rose petals to our booking to make it more of a special occasion, however on arrival these were missing. I contacted reception and they resolved this the following day, however there was just a handful of cheap plastic petals, not what I was expecting for this calibre of hotel.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
The only thing was the shower didn’t drain properly so it limited the time we could be in there.
