The floor to ceiling windows and balcony view was amazing. This is an older property and needs updating. My particular room had a musty smell. There was dripping coming from the furnace/water heater closet. The floor in the closet had a 1/4 inch of water and the pipes were covered in black mold. No bottle opener in kitchen. They provided bar soap in the bathroom but no soap dish.

We have been to Shell Island three times. First was our first vacation. The room was nice we really liked it. The Second we got engaged, we had to switch rooms because the first was not up to par and was given one that was very nice. This last visit was our Honeymoon. The beach remains the same "beautiful" however, the rooms continuously change. This room was ok our issue was the tub was stopped up and looked old. Made us feel forced to take a shower. Also the kitchen sink faucet was so loose you could almost pick it up. Depends on which room you stay in. Its a hit or miss with the rooms.

Really dirty room. I had to clean the room myself. It was people’s hair on baseboards underneath sofa and tables was not swept or vacuumed. Can tell it hadn’t been done in a long time.

This was a great stay for a night. I wanted to wake up by the beach and did just that with, with a great view. The staff were very friendly, and the beds were pretty comfortable. My only issue was that our room was not as clean as I'd have liked. The restroom was not optimal and some of our dishes had debris on them.

The worst beds I have ever slept in. Not sure if all beds are like this. Our unit was also a little outdated and cabinets were not sturdy and old. Stay clear from room 509. Probably won’t stay here again as the whole resort looked a little rundown and older.

Definite 3 star. Room was clean and they have a good layout, but otherwise average. Need serious soundproofing: slamming doors, conversation in other units, toilets flushing, makes it hard to sleep. Beach is beautiful, but hard to enjoy from the balcony with people smoking pot in nearby units.

The view was breathtaking. We really appreciated the double bathroom. We ate breakfast each day in the dining room and the food and service were excellent. The Assistant Manager, Josh, anticipated our every need and was so welcoming and friendly, The staff at the desk was also helpful and welcoming. We like forward to our next visit!

The furniture was Ikea level but the room was clean and had everything we needed except a dishwasher. The building itself seems worn, and one of the two elevators did not work for some of our stay. Some of the staff were very nice and welcoming, while others were not very friendly.

We have come to this resort every time we visit Wilmington for 25 years and we have never been so diappointed. Our rooms were so undesirable that we won't be back. One double bed lookied like it had been slept in and we had to request a change before sleeping the 1st night. The mattress nd linens are cheap. It felt like sleeping on cardboard with a rough old sheet. Absolutely no ventilation in the condo and no thermostate throughout so we left the beach slider open and we fought to sleep on the couch. The bonus of the condo was that the stove top did not work either. This is officially our last visit to Shell Island.

The resort is generally very nice. Although, it does show need of repairs here and there as did our condo. Considering that we paid extra for the top tier condo, I expected it to be nicer.
