The hotel is beautiful. The staff were friendly and efficient.  We ordered room service twice and both times the food and service was excellent.   Our room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. We had an awesome view of the cathedral. The flower gardens were beautiful. You need to be aware that if you stay there they’re going to charge you for anything extra. For example, parking cost us $40 per day. They don’t really say this on the website, but it’s important to factor that into the cost of the room. The valets were very nice.  The restaurant is pricey and there are not a lot of other food options downtown for dinner that are in walking distance. The Hotel is located right in the middle of downtown and has excellent views of the cathedral and across from a beautiful fountain and park.  It has many walkable things to see. The downside of it being located in the center of downtown is there are quite a few homeless and pot smoking people who spend time hanging out at the fountain across the street and around the area.   This definitely takes away from the charm and feeling of safety when exploring the area. We were approached a few times for money and we watched the police show up several times but they did not ask them to move on. On the riverfront, people were using the nice fountains to bathe and brush their teeth. We were told not to use the public transit or tunnels because the homeless live there and use the trains and tunnels for sleeping and toilets.

The rooms are showing their age. Nothing has changed in the many years I have been coming here. This stay in particular though was worse. Our room felt damp. Really no other way to describe it than it just felt wet. The was no air circulation and it felt gross. Very expensive hotel for the quality of rooms.

It was not up to my expectations. The Saint Paul hotel is suppose to be better than mid to low level hotels. But the bed wasn’t that great the tv was super small. But they could put out a ton of snacks and liquor. Room was kinda cramp.
