We booked a double room with balcony at the Arosa Kulm at a cost of over $800 per night - we pre-paid for the room in full. We chose the hotel because a group of friends had agreed to stay at the hotel and ski in Arosa for the weekend. We also chose the hotel because we have a 3 month old daughter and the facilities for children looked great - including a child's spa.
Thus we were exceptionally disappointed to receive an email from the Arosa Kulm while driving to the resort to inform us that they had cancelled our reservation and moved us to another hotel. The second hotel was not a 5 star hotel and more importantly it meant we would not be staying in the same location as the friends we were travelling with.
Considering that they had cancelled our booking without prior approval from me I asked for a refund instead. I was informed that my room reservation was non-refundable and that there was nothing I could do. I found this a completely unacceptable response.
Whilst I did not end up staying at the hotel my impression of the staff was that they were very arrogant and service quality was not at the level I would expect from a hotel in the price category.
We did join our friends to eat there on the Saturday night (in their family Italian restaurant) and whilst the food was good the decor of the restaurant felt very dated.
I would not book with this hotel again as I would have no confidence that my reservation would be honored.
The Kulm is a nice hotel with lots of facilities like the spa and various restaurants. The spa area has nice views of the mountains and excellent facilities. The decor is not to my taste with a lot of stainless steel and straight lines, but it is very functional. The standard rooms are well equipped but need an upgrade on the decor and furniture. There are many more options in Arosa that offer better quality stay for the price. I don’t think this hotel is value for money. In my view it is far too expensive for what they offer
I have stayed at this superb hotel previously in September and it is consistently excellent as the Summer season draws to a close.
The staff maintain high standards of efficiency and competence combined with genuine warmth and friendliness.
The facilities are very good and pending refurbishment could well enhance them.
Great hotel, 1st class service from all the staff. Would like coffee machine in bedroom,also change lighting in bathroom to led,as current system makes bathroom very warm.
We stayed in Hotel Kulm Arosa in December 2013. We had a great experience, the staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was wonderful and we felt immediately at home. Definitely one of the best hotels we have visited and we will certainly be back again!
Das war ein richtig guter Aufenthalt. Alle Wünsche wurden einem erfüllt. Top Personal. Super Lage. Hervorragendes Essen. Super Swimming Pool für die Kinder.
Das Frühstück war sehr gut! Die Zimmer sollten renoviert werden. Die Matratze war u.a. total durchgelegen.
Der „runde“ Geburtstag, den ich hatte, wurde vom Hotel/Personal komplett ignoriert.....
