Great spot, nice retro design, fantastic rooms with best minibar with lots of variety and decently priced, lovely amenities and dining room with fireplace and bar. Food trailers on premises. Pet friendly, friendly staff, parking on-premises at decent price. Overall a nicely conceived and well considered resort-like hotel. Our favorite place for staycation in town.

When I checked in the person didn’t tell me we had to pay for parking. The only reason I found out was because after we attempted to park a completely full lot that we were directed to, I went back in to ask for additional parking areas and saw the parking QR code which I then asked about and was told “oh yes. You do have to pay for parking” 😒 Then after getting everyone bathed and ready for bed I went to turn on the heat and found the thermostat completely missing. Called front desk and they said they forgot it was being ordered. Offered to move us but kids had already showered and were asleep. Second day they called at 4:30 to tell me it wasn’t going to be fixed today. At that point it was

Concrete Floors were dirty with sand from Ice storm upon arrival/ asked to have them cleaned never happened. Asked again when we got back 9 pm. Cleaned them at 930 pm. Main door had a huge crack and was drafty and loud (room 131) Friday night woken up 4 times by people at bar / fire pit drunk louds. 1 am and 130 am had to go to lobby to complain. Didn’t get back to slope until 4 am.

If you are looking for a nice practical hotel in a walkable location this one is for you. It is more retro than fancy, but a great vibe for Austin. The staff was great and loved the free Lone Star at check-in.
