Parking to the rear of the hotel is very helpful for access, staff friendly, check in a breeze. Good facilities, breakfast very good, main accommodation at rear was very tired on the point of requiring an overhaul. With the building being old there is no air-conditioning requiring windows to be open unfortunately meaning a noisy night and smokers!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Room had plumbing problems but receptionist found us another very quickly and helped move our bags
The Hall is very old and needs a lot of reparation more so it seems in the modern building wing where the rooms were shabby and not clean. We asked for another room and staff were very helpfl and found one that was clean.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Rooms were at the back of the property over the car park. This meant it was probably quieter than the front of the building. Building in general is probably a bit tired, but the rooms at the back were nicely presented and recently refurbished. Very limited ventilation though with the window only opening by a crack meant it got very hot in the night.
I liked our refurbished room however I went with a group of 3 others and one couple had an unfinished room which was a vast difference compared to our room which was a disappointment. When booking the hotel it had a beautiful frontage which is where I thought we'd be staying. This was very decieving as we were actually staying in a part of the building at the back which was a 1960's add on. Having said that the refurbished room was a pleasant experience.
After our 1st room a suite smelt like smoke and no toilet paper in the moved us & we were in the main part of hotel which was fantastic, breakfast was amazing as well but I’d only stay there again if u was in main part of the hotel as the extension bit wasn’t very nice at all,
The receptionist during the day did not respond to a request I made and on checking out the receptionist just took the key and showed complete ignorance. I understand that the hotel is under renovations but the price l paid for a disgustingly dirty room is unacceptable. I was not offered any apology! Such a shame as the building is of historic importance and it’s in the center of Banbury, but the staff need professional training.
I have now stayed a few times and Moriano the manager has been exceptional. Very friendly and a complete gentleman. It is now my preferential stay location in this area.
