To stay or not to stay again?

Excellent location. Right in the heart of city Center. Room was a good size. Staff were very friendly and more than just helpful. Common area was large and used by some of the guests. The building is covered with mesh and scaffolding meaning that the balconies are not useable. Unfortunately that was one of the main reasons for booking this hotel.

The property is located in a very busy district with a lot of people walking around the area all day long! It is close to metro and aerobus station. Walkable access to shops and restaurants. The property is clean but old but no complaint for the price!

Perfect! The cleanliness and friendliness, despite being an old building was just awesome. I loved the authentic charm and the chill vibe along with the BEST location in Barcelona. Plus, I was steps away from the most delicious vegetarian restaurant… Teresa Carles. If you are looking for a modern and swanky hotel, look elsewhere. But if you want an efficient room that meets all basic needs in a superb location, stay at Hotel Monegal.

We cannot wait to go back to Spain. We will stay here. Right in the heart if the Ramblas. Within walking distance to anywhere you want to go. Staff is extended friendly. Felt safe the entire time.

I had a very bad experience that could have been made right … I have travelled the world extensively over the last 50 years and this was one of the worst customer service issues I have ever faced. In the end, the hotel only marginally made the issue right. They should have refunded the premium I paid for what they did not provide! I wanted, and paid a premium, for a room with a nice view. When I arrived, I found the hotel being restored, and my “view” blocked by the restoration. The hotel realized they had failed to inform me. I had travelled for 24 hours and arrived at 17:00, and decided to work to resolve the next morning. I looked on line, and a internal room was 40pct less than I paid. The hotel only offered me a 20pct discount. But I wanted a view. They offered me a full refund on the remaining three nights, but not a discount on the night I stayed, despite the room not being what I had paid for. So not only did I have to find a new place and move, taking significant time out of my limited vacation days, but I ended up paying a premium for a non premium room. They said they would process the refund but did not; two days later, I contacted Expedia, and in 10 minutes the refund was processed. I am due a 40pct refund for the night I stayed. This hotel deserves the lowest rating for failing to meet their commitment.

We enjoyed our stay.

The location of hotel is perfect, very central, within walkable distance from all major attractions and entertainment. The hotel is unfortunately under construction and the view is restricted by the tarmac. Saying that, it still has a beautiful view of Pl. Catalunya as it’s a see-through. We stayed on the top floor and can even see La Sagrada Familia. Our room had a long beautiful balcony as it’s a central room. Yes, the hotel itself is very old and it needs a proper refurbishment inside and out, but it didn’t affect our stay, we definitely enjoyed it. However, I would highly recommend to buy some ear plugs as it’s quite noisy outside due to the roadworks. The real credit to the hotel is their friendly reception staff, who accommodate all your needs! Thank you for your everyday smile! :) The hotel also has a small lounge and a kitchenette on the 3rd floor with a view on Montjuic (beautifully illuminated when is dark), with tables and chairs where you can eat your food that you can warm in a microwave. You can borrow an iron, a kettle and a hairdryer at the 24hr reception. The bathroom has some toiletries and towels. The hotel is also offers a free luggage storage service. Don’t expect a 5 stars hotel, but it’s in a very convenient location, with a great staff and definitely has a lot of potential.

We had a great experience. Mom and son trip. We felt safe. Many of the things we wanted to see were at walkable distance. Metro was five min, taxis across the street.McDonals right next to us, Starbucks less than 5 min, subway across the street and many more options. I had my doubts because many people warned me about pick pockets at the Rambla st but I felt safe. I had my phone on a lane yard, my purse shoulder cross. The people at the check in and che out were friendly, and they helped with directions. All around my son and I had a good experience.
