Copthorne Tara provides very affordable accommodation in a really nice part of London easily accessible from Kensington High Street Tube which is only the 3rd stop from Paddington.
The hotel is large and comfortable, I would describe the decor as a little dated but perfectly ok. The staff are very helpful and there are plenty of them in the busy reception area.
The elevators are a bit of a nightmare on two occasions that we’ve stayed there a couple have been out of order and they seem to have a mind of their own, stairs are an option but not if you’re on the eleventh floor and you have luggage. Also a little disappointed with the bar closing at midnight, whilst there is a self-service bar in reception, the hard chairs and relative darkness of this area did not make it welcoming. We only wanted a quiet drink after returning from a show, and this (in my opinion) was not a good option, for a hotel if this size and location the bar should be open until at least 0100.
The breakfast was great, lots of choice and veggie options on request.
I would definitely stay here again, in fact I’m booked in again in March.
On the whole a nice, comfortable hotel in a nice accessible part of London.
