Southend Penguin Waddle and Street Art

Brilliant. Comfy bed. Clean, spacious room. Water and coffee facilities available. Southend was brimming with street artists painting on buildings, Penguin statues scattered about the town and a treasure hunt! Best weekend ever. The Park Inn right on the sea front easiky accessible to all of it. Great fun.

Short seaside family break

Me and my family had a lovely time on our short break. Our room was a great size for a family room with a lovely sea view and It had enough beds for all of us which were very comfortably. The bathroom was tiny for a family rooom. The bathroom floor was bumpy and uneven to walk on. The toilet seat cover fell off. The flush buttons was too hard to push so the toilet never really cleared after each use. Also when we turned on one of the fans in the bedroom, so much thick dust came flying out of it that we had to turn it off immediately. But the breakfast the next day was great and all of the staff were lovely.

Give this one a steer…

First of all, the bed was so lumpy that you could barely sleep on it. You could actually see the lumps in the mattress as the devalue was sitting on it. Second of all, because I was in the room where they allow dogs, there were dog pee stains all over the carpet. There is no excuse for that from either the owners of the dogs or the hotel. There are products out there that will successfully remove pee stains as well as the smell from the dog pee. Additionally, because I had booked two nights in a row, but booked them separately, I asked when I checked in if I would have the same room. The clerk told me that yes I would have the same room. I received a call the next day where they had gone into my room and my stuff was still there. So I had to remind them that I had actually booked tonight. It was then that I was informed that I should have checked out and then checked back in. I don’t have a problem doing that, but I need to be told in advance that that’s what the expectation is. So I thought that was very unprofessional of them. Overall, it was not a good experience staying in this hotel.

It's a nice hotel in an excellent location. The staff was kind, breakfast was tasty and there was a great variety of food. The room was spacious with all the necessary facilities and nice big mirrors. As I read some of the previous comments about the cleanliness it was true that the carpet was stained. The windows are old, not double glazed, I couldn't fall asleep because of the sound of the wind. However, overall, we had a good stay here and we would return because there are more pros than cons.

In general everything was fine but that’s all it was - average. 1 pillow is actually quite uncomfortable. Broken windows which wouldn’t open. Air con not working. Flush very weak on the toilet. Bathroom had damp damage to walls, door and shower. 1 teabag total on tea making facilities. No hotel deal currently in place for parking making it £25 nearby which isn’t their fault as such but along with £140 for a room makes it a very expensive stay for the quality.

Location is spot on. Close to the beach and AdventureLand. The Hotel itself is a bit old and my room had issues with the standing shower and bathroom in general. Breakfast is very good.

Not great.

Staff and location were great, however the hotel needs a serious update on their rooms. The beds and pillows are the flattest and most uncomfortable ones I’ve slept on in a long time. The door of the bathroom was falling apart from the humidity. The carpet in the corridor was disgusting. Would not recommend unless you want to be really close to the pier.

Excellent location and good service.

Best location for hotel in Southend. Overall an excellent hotel , especially the family room is very good. The receptionist stored our baggage so we can go out and wonder about as we got there before the 3pm Check-in time. Also at check out time 12pm they stored our luggage in hotel so we can pick up later which was kind of them.

Breakfast was very nice and staff serving breakfast was very friendly and welcoming. Hotel room was not clean to a high standard. There was tea/coffee stains on side cabernets from previous guests. Was strange white marks on curtains. The reception staff was very helpful.

Firstly, there is no parking on site but a car park across the road costs £25 for 24hrs. The room was spacious, we were located on the second floor the view would have been amazing but the windows were covered in dirt both inside and out and heavily stained. No mini bar, only one dressing gown. Needs a refurb at £235 a night!

Good points location - close to beach and pier Bar area - was nice, decent prices for drinks Breakfast - good range of food and drinks. Should be made clearer that if you want eggs of any sort you need to request these from a member of staff. Bad points - room was ridiculously hot. Had a sense this would be the case as there was a fan going on arrival. But no air con and issues with the window meant it was a terrible night sleep. Huge queue on check in meant this was a long and painful process. No hotel parking and no discount if using multi story next door. £25 a day rate so factor this in. Overpriced for what it is very tired in areas.

Poor amenities!

Thw room was hotter than a sauna. Air con was broke as was in every other room. It said it had a bar. It was a mini fridge next to reception. The gym was also lacking.. no weights. As the gym didnt have a window and with broken air con it was 40 degrees in the room.
