Dated Exterior - otherwise pretty good

The hotel is your standard Holiday Inn guess the buildings are from 70s maybe 80s. All looks very dated from outside. It’s a hotel by the motorway and that’s what you get. Room was nicely modernised so no complaints there. Had food in the bar and it was pretty fine. Used the gym which was fine. Continental breakfast is well priced and plenty of choice - the girl welcoming guests to breakfast was very pleasant.

Very tired and worn, adequate for an overnight stay. Cleaners doing their best, but carpets and upholstery stained and old. Breakfast OK, nice patisserie but bacon was poor.

Everything you'd expect

This hotel is everything you'd expect from a holiday inn. Its clean, quiet and has what you need. We only had a short stay, so not too much to say really. Despite being on a busy road, you dont experience too much noise, and i had the window open all night

Me and my family stayed at holiday inn for a couple nights, overall everything was good l, comfy beds, spacious room and cleaned everyday, location is great. The main issue was the room cards not working properly and having to get them reset every night, and then the ac stopped working randomly.

Had a great time staying here, staff were very friendly and approachable with any issues. It was close to a friend’s so made it better as I had come down from Scotland to stay for a concert. I recommend!

Excellent stay.

Great hotel, convenient location. Friendly staff. I travelled with my 7 year old and really appreciated that the kind lady who checked us in was very discreet when issuing us our room and didn't state the room number as there were lots of men around. Really appreciated that. Maid service was great. Everyone was extremely kind to my son and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent breakfast options. Pool facilities were great.

Hotel is ok but a bit scruffy.

When we opened the door to our room, we were immediately met with an unpleasant smell. A cross between musty and old furniture smell. The large window was jammed shut, so no letting in any fresh air. The carpet was also quite stained. It was a very hot day when we checked-in but the air-conditioning wasn't working. With the window jammed shut and no air-con, it was unbearable so we asked to move rooms. The receptionist was very nice but said..."The problem is, air-conditioning switches off when it gets too hot and won't work. I can't guarantee that if I move you that the air-con will be working in another room as it's not working in most rooms. The booking company should have told you." Well, we did get moved, and the air-con did work - hurrah! Not only that, but the new room was so much nicer than the first. Clean carpet, not smelly, cleaner looking walls - and a fridge! The corridors are depressing, a splash of colour would work wonders! The carpets on the stairs are fraying and the railings on the stairs look old and dirty, as do the walls. The hotel could do with new carpets throughout and a lick of paint. Air freshener wouldn't go amiss either. The bar/restaurant/reception areas are clean, tidy, modern and inviting. Breakfast was ok, lots to choose from. The pool area is ok but a bit drab. Location is convenient, just a couple of minutes from the motorway and easy to find. Staff were friendly.

Very difficult / confusing to find late at night

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the M6 but it is extremely confusing to get to off the M6 because of the road layout. When we (finally) arrived the property is ok - a little run down and no elevator (not ideal with luggage). Claims to be pet friendly but there is a £15 surcharge

I had one of the most disappointing experiences at this hotel. I booked a Standard Room with a Double Bed through Expedia in May (costing £120.65) and checked in on 23 August around 9 PM. To my shock, the hotel manager assigned me a single room. When I questioned this, she insisted that in the UK, this was considered a “standard double room.” That excuse is completely unacceptable and misleading, especially since the Expedia listing clearly showed a proper double room. She even claimed Expedia often uses the “wrong photos,” which is simply passing the blame rather than taking responsibility. Moreover, the bathroom only had one cup and one set of towels, which again proves it was never intended as a genuine double room. Things got worse: the air conditioning was broken. When I called reception, I was told no maintenance staff were available and was advised to “just open the window.” For a hotel under the Holiday Inn brand, this is appalling. Although I was eventually moved to another hotel after repeated complaints, it became obvious that my original booking was not respected. From what I saw, the hotel was hosting a wedding that evening. It seemed clear to me that most rooms were given to wedding guests, while late arrivals like myself were pushed into whatever leftover rooms were available. Instead of admitting this, the manager tried to cover it up by claiming it was “UK standard.” That is dishonest and insulting to paying customers.
