The best word I can use for Hotel Salem is "quirky." Let's get my les-favorite things out of the way and then I'll rave. No parking: You must use a paid parking lot nearby. Additional expense and just saying suitcases don't roll easily over brick & cobblestone! Weird room setup (at least in ours) where the bathroom is broken into 2 totally separate rooms with weird not-quite-private barn doors. Parts of the hotel - it's like it wants to be retro and industrial but it also is like a little in need of updating - worn paint, old (and oddly placed) outlets. On the flip side - location cannot be beat!! Right in the heart of all the spooky Salem fun. The staff was outstanding - friendly and accommodating. Some fun high end touches like quality soaps and lotions plus real glasses in the room. And the rooftop bar is lovely. All in all - a good experience.

Our little refrigerator wasn't working upon arrival, they replaced it immediately. The staff was super friendly and helpful. This is right on Essex street where no cars are allowed which we really loved, being right on the shopping strip and parking was close by.

These guys were really communicative- text messages keeping you updated, asking if you needed anything, welcoming you. It was really nice. The property is in the middle of it all, which made it really convenient to shop and eat and then pop into the room to drop packages or freshen up when needed. They have a great rooftop bar/restaurant- we didn't get to enjoy it (they had an event) but I hope we can get back to do so! The only downside... the parking is kinda far away, and we had to take the luggage trolly through the streets, to the garage, and back. It was awkward and exhausting. I wish they had closer parking or at least a drop off point!

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Salem. So clean, comfortable and beautiful! We didn’t get to try the rooftop restaurant because it rained most of our visit, but the Counter on the first floor was very nice. Staff went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met. We will definitely stay here again!

Great location, hotel food offerings were very good. Rooms can get a bit noisy. Rooms are a nice size. My Room was an ADA Accessible so plenty of room and large bathroom w/nice big shower. I was lacking a few smaller amenities, like an ice bucket and coffeemaker. The bedside lights had to be turned off on the wall across from the bed (no bedside lighting/no clock either, Otherwise you can't beat the location - lots of shopping and dining options nearby and most all of the points of interest within walking distance. Parking in Salem is an issue in general, but there is a parking deck nearby if you are lucky to grab a spot. We noticed that most shops don't open until 10 or 11 so going before this time will make finding a spot easier.

Very inconvenient to have to park and carry all of your luggage 5min away (esp in pouring rain) to the hotel. No shower doors-odd.

The location of the Hotel Salem is perfect for a carless visit. Staff was helpful and the bed was comfortable. I also appreciated the refillable soaps in the room, rather than disposable plastic containers. Sharing a room with a friend, we did not enjoy the design of the bathroom, which left a large gap to see and hear whoever is using the toilet while in the room. Also, we were woken up at 6:30 on the day of checkout by a persistent knocking and never found out what the sound was.

The Hotel Salem

Great hotel and great location! Would definitely stay there again. Only issues were off site parking (available but at guest’s expense), difficult to use tv (no guide for local channels), and no shelves or hand rails in the shower. Enjoyed the roof top bar and dining - beautiful view! Wish the restaurant near the lobby had been open while we were there, but it is only open certain days of the week.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel. It’s cleanly and modern and the staff are incredibly helpful. It’s located right in the pedestrian walking zone of Salem and close to all of the attractions. It was quiet at night and overall we had a wonderful experience would recommend.

It is in a great location. Walk out the front door right in the middle of all the shops and attractions. It is such a fun place to explore and visit. We plan to visit again to explore more of the waterfront area. The only thing that was a little odd in the hotel room was the bathroom set up. Other than that, it was a nice hotel.
