My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Pagua Bay House. The property is close to the airport and has convenient parking. The room was clean, the bed was soft, the shower was huge, the pool was refreshing and everything sits on a beautiful cliff overlooking the ocean. The onsite restaurant and bar had great food and drinks as well. We will return for sure. Highly recommend!!
The staff was friendly & helpful, the food was delicious & affordably priced, the rooms were cozy, relaxing, and had wonderful beds. We will definitely stay here again when traveling to Dominica.
The property was superb. It consists of 6 separate air conditioned cottages with ample space. Excellent dining on sight. Nice swimming pool and ocean views. Alicia is the owner and she was extremely helpful in terms of recommendations, making reservations, etc.. When Alicia was not available her associate Sheldon filled in. The staff was top notch. The downside of Dominica is the poor roads and infrastructure. We rented a car and found driving on the narrow serpentine roads stressful. Maybe it was being 73 years old and not used to driving on the L hand side. But whatever the reason, one must take driving into account when planning a vacation to Dominica.
I thought it was on a beach, but its across the street from a beach. I found out the locals dont really go into that beach. Also its close to the airport which waa nice but its far from everything. Its definitely a place to spend 1 or 2 nights just for the aesthetics. It rained the first night so the view was superb. Even at day break and dusk the view is amazing. There is no tv so we had to find other things to pass the time.
Our experience at the Pagua Bay House was great! The grounds, cabana, restaurant, and view of the bay were amazing. We ate most of our meals on-site at the bar and grill. As others have mentioned, we really appreciated the help from Sheldon and Alicia in setting up activities and providing suggestions to explore the island! We would definitely recommend staying at Pagua Bay House on a trip to Dominica.
Property is in a very nice quiet setting with gorgeous ocean and mountain views. Rooms are very nice, private and separated from each other. There's even a/c in the rooms (not common on Dominica). On-site food is excellent and the staff are very nice and were helpful with arranging transportion. The only negative is no fault of the property, but because of the location on the island, getting around to other sites is really expensive. Taxis are as expensive as an uber/lyft across Manhattan, so prepare for taxi sticker shock. We would stay there again.
Our hosts, Rick and Alicia, went out of their way every day to make sure our needs were met. The food was all local and wonderfully prepared. Our cabana was over the top, the largest bathroom and shower area I’ve ever seen. Multiple sitting/lying options on the veranda, by the trapezoidal plunge pool overlooking the ocean, surrounded by tropical foliage. So very beautiful.
Wow. This was everything we expected. We wanted a peaceful, relaxing place to stay and this exceeded our expectations. Great food food and service. Just perfect.
This is a beautiful property, and the staff are very friendly and attentive. It is very isolated, though, especially if you don't have a car. We arranged an all-day island tour that we thoroughly enjoyed. Our guide, Alex, was friendly and knowledgeable, and loves showing people his home.
Alicia, the owner, also took us on a short ride to the Kalinago Village since she was going that way. She made it a priority to see that we had things to do while there.
At the time of our visit, there was no TV available- either local or cable/satellite. That was a little disappointing, but we understand that this is partly a result of last year's hurricane. It's difficult to find things to do at night without it.
The restaurant food was, to our taste, too salty but otherwise well-prepared and the quality and variety was good. The service was also excellent.
Dominica is a beautiful island, and we enjoyed our time there.
We had a private cabana with our own pool. The room was very comfortable and rich in amenities, especially the extraordinarily large bathroom and the private pool.
Wonderful Adventure with Beach, Hiking, and G Food
Pagua Bay House was Wonderful Retreat. The resort was pristine with warm & friendly owners and staff. We were provided every morning with info about what we could see on the island and how we could achieve our goals, relaxing on the beach, tracking over mountains, swimming in waterfalls. We will be returning soon since there is so much to see and do.
Beautiful hotel with incredible views! Located right on the shore so there is a great ocean breeze and you can hear the constant roar of the waves.
The owners, Rick and Alicia, along with the GM, Sheldon, are super helpful and there to answer your every question about the island and offer helpful tips as well!
Fantastic place near the airport to unwind the first few days on the island. Wonderful meals (must try the Centipede Rum drink or the Sorrell Cosmo; good ceviche and fresh lobster). Owners and staff had great recommendations for hiking and touring. Highly recommend!
My husband and I received the best customer service we have ever experienced at any hotel or resort. The view of the bay is lovely, the food and cocktails were excellent, and I found the rooms to be large and comfortable. Because Dominica is a very small island, you would think staying at one place for your stay would be optimal. However, driving is a bit scary. I would recommend staying on the west facing portion of the island for the first part of your stay to explore and dive. Then move to Pagua Bay House and explore the east facing part of the island, relax, and get ready for the flight home. Dominica is a magical place!
We spent a week here on our 1st trip to Dominica. The room, grounds & common areas are very well maintained, as well as being very well equipped. The food is excellent, lots of tasty options, recommend the breakfast burrito and for lunch/dinner the Fish Tacos. As well as a beautiful location, grounds and food, the key reason we will be returning is the owners/team who strike the perfect balance of being on hand with help (hire cars/routes/beach recommendations) with giving you the space to fully relax in your private cabana & the grounds, truly well done. Can't wait to go again!
Beautiful relaxing little gem, we stayed for 3 nights and would loved to have stayed longer. We had the ocean view cabana which was lovely, with a huge bathroom and private terrace. We loved our stay and hope to be back - thank you!
Absolutely wonderful. The rooms were luxurious. The owners went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. I will go back to this place again and again.
We just had a great stay at Pagua Bay House. The resort is a small intimate place with only a few cabanas all with great views of the ocean. Alicia and Rick are the owners and operators Of Pagua Bay and along with their excellent staff they made us feel we were truly welcome. On a daily basis that helped us plan our excursions around the Island with great suggestions of what to see and do. This is a great spot and the Island of Dominica is a place not to be. Thanks for everything guys Patrick and Gretna
