The Hilton in Chicago is a beautiful hotel — it’s clean, well-maintained, and in a fantastic location. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. However, our stay was not without serious issues. We stayed for two nights and spent over $600, which is very expensive considering the problems we experienced. I had to change rooms twice because the heater wasn’t working. Even after moving rooms, the heat still wasn't properly fixed, and my kids and I were cold the entire time. To make matters worse, instead of a permanent solution, the hotel brought in a small portable heater. For a hotel that markets itself as a five-star property, basic amenities like a working heating system should be standard, not something patched with a mini heater. For the price we paid, I expected a much higher level of comfort and maintenance. While the service and appearance were great, the lack of working heat left a major negative impression. I would caution future guests to check room conditions carefully before settling in.

This Hilton was the perfect choice. We enjoyed our stay. The kids loved our room view of the lake and subways. It was clean. The staff were all so kind and welcoming. We will stay here again. We ate at the restaurant attached to Hilton called Kitty OSheas. It was delicious! The Starbucks inside and little market was perfect and convenient.

Disappointed Stay at Hilton Chicago

As a long-time Hilton Honors Gold member, I’ve come to expect a certain level of hospitality and comfort at Hilton properties. Unfortunately, my recent business stay at Hilton Chicago on April 17th was deeply unsatisfying and fell short of expectations. Despite my Gold status, I was informed that I was ineligible for any of my usual benefits simply because the booking was made through a third party—a common necessity for business travel arrangements. I understand policy limitations, but the lack of flexibility and recognition of loyalty was disappointing. The room itself was below par: No bottled water was provided. The coffee machine was outdated and barely functional. The bathtub was in noticeably poor condition. Additionally, the overall service experience was underwhelming. Security presence was impersonal, and staff interactions lacked the warmth and professionalism I’ve come to associate with Hilton. It did not feel like the welcoming environment I’ve come to expect. I usually look forward to Hilton stays, but this experience has left me reconsidering future visits to this property. I hope Hilton Chicago takes this feedback seriously and addresses the gap between brand promise and actual guest experience.
