Definitely a Keeper

What a neat place to stay in downtown Detroit. The inn was close to where we were going (the Masonic Temple for a concert) but also within a few hundred yards of the Fox and downtown sports parks. The old place is beautiful and funky without being too fussy. The bathroom was huge—a room unto itself! Our room was quite cold (third floor) due to AC and as it was about 11:30 pm when we got home from the concert, there was no one to contact. Extra blanket helped. The mattress is about at the end of its life. Coffee and continental breakfast were a good bonus.

Beautiful building

Super cozy and a great location for getting to the sports arenas. walking out the front door and Comerica Park is right there! I will be making this our go to stay when we visit Detroit for sporting events.

Beautiful building but the furniture was horribly dirty, falling apart and in much need of repair. Carpets were dirty. Windows, vents and trim were extremely dusty and dirty.

What a disappointment!

The outside of the building & the grounds are beautiful. We stayed in room 24. It was very warm in the room. Windows did not open, no ceiling fan. I asked the worker there & she turned on sub par air conditioning. The room had no amenities, except a TV. The room had not been cleaned recently. There was a price tag & dust on the floor in the main room. Two bed pillows did not have cases. The window behind the TV was covered by a heavy drape. Behind the drape was a broken, dirty blind. I dropped something on the floor in the bathroom. When I bent to pick it up, the back of the sink & toilet were filthy. The two workers were very nice & welcoming. The continental breakfast was nice. But the filth & poor ventilated room was unacceptable. For $212, we were definitely overcharged. We will never stay there again & will not recommend to our friends.

Beautiful, Central, Welcoming

Located walking distance from downtown and around the corner from the free light rail, The inn at 97 Winder is a true gem! The mansion is gorgeous, filled with a collection of colorful artwork and antiques. The rooms are very spacious—mine had a bay window facing downtown—and the bathrooms are very clean. Everything that I needed was provided for; they even accommodated my late check-in and held a bag for me upon check-out. The breakfast was basic but a nice perk nonetheless. Would stay here again, and especially recommend if you’re attending a show at The Fox Theater or a sporting event.

Check-in with Denise was great! Parking was okay- a bit of confusion because we arrived early, but they allowed us to park in the lot until check-in time. The common areas were nice and I loved all the wood floors. Proximity to the arena was great. Our room was NOT AT ALL like those pictured online. It was dirty! Crud on the bathroom sink, lord only knows what on the coffee table, and we did NOT walk on the floor without shoes on because it looked like it hadn’t been touched in quite some time. Would I stay there again? No, based on the dirtiness.

We stayed in room 21. It needs a complete overhall. There's black mold on the ceiling. The floor is uneven and a trip hazard. The bed was so uncomfortable that we left at 11:30 pm and slept at home! WARNING - DO NOT SYAY HERE !!!
