Lady Lockhart - Play by your own rules

The CoDE team and this property were unbelievably amazing. Was lucky enough to snag one of the new private rooms. I was able to enjoy the city from this central location, wash my clothes, and be able to squirrel away for some serious sleep before hotting the toad again. A lovely dark and moody room with everything one could need.

Great team

In this day and age of self check-in it was a comfort to experience so many friendly and helpful COde team members. From check-in to breakfast and bar service and tour guides, everyone was exceptional.

Easy and smooth check in. Stayed in 10 bed female dorm. Felt safe, personal space felt private as well. Has great facilities, separate female bathroom and shower, dining and bar area too. Opportunity to meet and mingle with other travellers with group activities, if you wish. Soo close to the Royal Mile, shopping, bars and restaraunts. Staff were very lovely, accomodating and helpful. Would definitely come back and also recommend to others.

Very clean hostel with super kind staff and fun evening activities that make it easy to meet people. The pod beds give privacy and it was quiet at night (early September). Great central location and excellent showers with good water pressure. I did miss having a shared kitchen, the café and tavern serve good food with guest discounts, but feel a bit more formal since they’re open to the public.

Great location and safe place for a solo female traveler! Staff is very friendly and accommodating! Pods were some of the best hostel pods I’ve stayed in! Only downside is they have a restaurant instead of a communal kitchen (weird to pay for tea in the UK instead of having a place with a hot water dispenser or kettle but oh well) and luggage storage is only for checkin/checkout days.

Place is located centrally on the Royal Mile and pretty much close to everything. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The pod was quite affordable given the ongoing Fringe Festival and other big events in the city. The bedding and linen was clean overall, and baggage locker was secure with a numberpad. Someone else in the room had a rather strong body odor that fortunately didn't penetrate through the curtains into my pod, so it would be great if there are air fresheners sprayed intermittently in the common section of the room.

Edinburgh fringe & highlands tour

Super clean and modern. A pleasant stay to suit our needs. The pod fit max a 6ft 3" person. The lockers are pin coded so no need to worry about padlocks and keys. Loads of showers and toilets. The common area / kitchen is currently being renovated as of Aug 2025 but they have a bar available and you could use the other hostel branch 10 mins walk away if needed. Next to Caffè nero for your morning caffeine fix. You can also get 15% discount on bar food.
