Hotel is great, but room view not so much.

Great place to stay, but hotels.com got me another rooftop view so I was looking at the AC units out my window again. Always, bad views using this app. This hotel is always nice and it’s a great location. The bar/restaurant closes at 11 is the only thing they need to change.

This is a classic property with modernized rooms. It is right in the heart of downtown, near to many venues. While they have no self-parking on property (valet available) there are several structures nearby that are connected by skywalks.

Lovely hotel, great location but you may want to call them before you go. My room had an unpleasant odor; they tried to spray but it never really went away. They didn't follow up either. It wasn't unbearable, just unpleasant. I booked 2 rooms; they put us on floors 2 and 10 . . . why does that make sense? The hotel says it is because they only have 1 of the suites that I booked on each floor. I asked for any regular room closer, they said they didn't have any but were able to move the room on 10 to 5. I booked the suites because that is all that was available. I wish I had known the issue before I booked. It really makes no sense to be that far apart when you are traveling in a group - that changes the dynamic. Finally, I don't ride elevators because I am claustrophobic. This hotel has no public stairs. Each time I entered the hotel I had to get an escort to a private stairway. The staff was pleasant about it but it was an issue. Other than those things, the hotel is lovely, and the staff is nice. The bedding was very comfortable, and the shower pressure was amazing.

The Saint Paul is my favorite Twin Cities hotel. It’s beautifully appointed, the front desk and valet are always very pleasant as are the staff at both The Saint Paul Grill and The Drake. The grounds are lovely and the park across the street is very nice. The views of the capitol building, the Landmark Center and the River are picturesque. Within walking distance there are several very good restaurants in varying price points with diverse cuisines, as well as coffee shops bakeries, breweries and live music venues. The hotel offers a fitness center but there is a nice path for running along the river for those who abhor a treadmill like my husband. For me it’s really an ideal hotel.
