The young lady working at the desk was very personable . The room service food was horrible the only thing that was really edible was the boneless wings the fries were old brown and greasy I asked for mustard for the hot dog no mustard just a whole bunch of ketchup and our refrigerator in our room did not work

Great staycation

The room was clean & very inviting. The beverage fridge is always nice to have on hand. The breakfast was more than i expected! Whole bunch of food and everything tasted great besides the French toast sticks. They were plain with no flavor but that wasn't a big deal. Overall a great stay! If I'm in need of a staycation Doubletree will definitely be on that list!

First time staying at this Doubletree here in South Bend, and all I can say is that it was a pleasant stay. The staff was very friendly and actually held a conversation with me while checking me in! He even gave me warm chocolate chip cookies for my family and I! The room was clean and the bed was a dream! The view of the river was the cherry on top. Loved the stay so much I booked an extra night. If we needed something, either from housekeeping or front desk, they made sure our needs were satisfied. If we are ever in the South Bend area again, I will book another stay there.

Great getaway for the night.

We had an enjoyable stay. Our room was large we did have a small party going on next door to us and I had to call down to the lobby desk at just before 10:00 and he assured me that party was ending at 10:00 and it did. When the couple that was staying in that room returned at 2:30 a.m. they were loud and I just knocked on the wall and they quit right away they were connecting rooms. The Breakfast Buffet was delicious! We had a very good server taking care of us getting us water and taking away dirty dishes I don't recall his name but he was young and very thin. We were within walking distance for The Cher Show at Morris Performing Arts and then dinner at Cafe Nirvana would highly recommend both! We may return to see Chicago this summer and would definitely stay at the DoubleTree again.

The Doubletree has been my go to for the past 5 years while in South Bend for work. I won’t be back. Property is tired and worn down. Cleanliness has really declined as well.

We always look forward to staying at this hotel due to its proximity to the university and downtown amenities. However, this time, I noticed that the facilities were in rough shape. We stayed on the third floor, where there was a broken pipe, causing water to leak from the ceiling. I completely understand that these things happen, but when you're being charged almost $300 a night, you expect better upkeep. During our two-night stay, housekeeping never came. They only showed up just as we were checking out. Additionally, we had to pay for parking this time, even though it was previously free—yet the gate remained open at all times. On a positive note, our check-in experience was pleasant, and the staff was very welcoming. Unfortunately, the rest of our stay did not match that level of hospitality.

Great Location

Located in downtown South Bend, the hotel is close to Notre Dame campus, plus all the amenities of downtown (restaurants, bars, etc.). Hotel is still in good condition, but starting to show some signs of age. Room was a nice size with all the basic amenities you would expect (fridge, coffee maker, etc.)

Overpriced

No hot water, changed rooms, still no hot water, early morning construction noise on floor above my room, water leaking through the ceiling in the hallway buckets laying around to catch it, trim and wallpaper peeling off, and if you didn't have a coat on in the atrium you would freeze to death. No bartender, did not know what an old fashioned is, and no mich ultra.
