Book Hamakua Coast hotels

Stayed in the Legacy Suite and loved every minute of it! Didn’t want to leave. Can’t beat the views. Really appreciated having our own porch area off the bedroom. Photos show that yes the bathroom is a tad dated, but the house is nearly 100. Cmon. It was LOVELY. Everything worked. Our hosts were very communicative. I know some commented about the “signs everywhere with rules”… I don’t know. It did not feel overdone and I personally appreciated the notes so I was able to respect their home and have minimal to no misunderstandings. The detailed messages were so helpful for us. Very detailed, clear and easy to understand. The driveway is a bit tight, but maneuvering it gets easier. The property is unforgettable!

My room had baby cockroaches crawling around in the table I was working at under the TV. I loved the room because it was spacious and clean, other than those baby cockroaches. But the A/C was a little loud. I think it was on auto and so it would turn off and on and every time it would turn back on it kind of made a loud noise which woke me up a few times.

Excellent peaceful place to stay! Super kind and nice staff. It was the highlight of our Hawaii holiday!

Common areas were attractive. Our room was small and basically windowless. Staff was nice. Bathroom was so small you had to zigzag to reach the sink. I think a large person would struggle to navigate it. Bed comfy but pillows really small. Great amenities - convenient store, laundry, drinks, games, white noise machine, recreational gear to borrow. Location was nice, right across from the bay. I think the room in the relaxation wing was just a bummer. And I suspect the pool wing is bad too because of noise and the ocean wing looks down on a parking lot as far as I could tell. Try to get a room in the pond wing - I think you’ll have a balcony there or at least a window. Those rooms are probably nice. The place has a bit of a hostel feel. Their heart is really in the right place with their philosophy and their commitment to sharing their profits with good causes. But I partly picked them because they were listed somewhere as one of top ten hotels in the state and I’m sort of surprised they made the list considering the room we stayed in. Also they say you can tell them if you think it was poor value and pay what you think your room is worth but I would absolutely not feel comfortable doing that.
