All was basically fine. There are a few things you need to be aware of: the WC handle in our room was loose and functioned poorly; the shower screen seal on the fixed pane seems non existent, flooding the floor when the shower is used, the WC was not really clean, superficially so but filthy on the left hand side, not readily seen when looking directly down at it. The room was clean and warm, the bed fantastic, very comfortable and spacious. We would have preferred to not have to go to reception for additional tea bags, only one each! Also, maybe I’m old fashioned, but not having the bed made when staying at a hotel does seem odd??

Hotel bar closed at 22:30 - on NEW YEAR’S EVE! No heating on in room on arrival despite it being near zero temperatures. No extra blanket in room - had to scrounge one from reception. Woken up by fireworks at 4:20 in the morning (okay that probably not the hotel’s fault).

Definite case of needing a refurbishment, bed was very comfortable and clean, furniture needs renewal, bath/shower was clean but toilet not been cleaned in a long while, dirt very evident behind sink and pedestal, not what we expected to be evident after paying quite a lot. Hopefully by the time we revisit in 12 months, they will have carried out some refurbishment and deep cleaning
