I have used this hotel many years ago when it was a luxury, top of the range country house hotel. It is still a nice place but service levels have reset to minimum. Breakfast finishes at 9:30am weekdays. You have to check out by 10am! Crazy! Evening meal options are limited, a £20 buffet - you get what you pay for of a really basic bar menu. The prices are low but this former luxury hotel is a basic Poundland!

Good parking. Good gym and leisure facilities. Quiet area. Fair price for B&B. - lumpy bed. Hard pillows. Thin walled room, noisy neighbour very intrusive til early hours. Seems to be zero soundproofing. Food was okay, a limited menu offering. £20 for a buffet (roast dinner) with some dry vegetables (been on the hot plates for a while) seems a bit expensive? Breakfast was better, food seemed fresher, good choice and better value as included in a decent B&B cost. I don’t know anywhere better in the area that has the leisure facilities and I will continue to stay here as I have business interests in the area. Staff were very helpful and nice.

I booked for a night on business and could not believe the hotel. Gym, Pool and fitness centre all great. They had an offer for food of £20.00 for an all you can eat buffet and this has to be the best value I have had. Starter 3 meat and 2 vegetarian mains salad, dessert and a cheese selection all included. Excellent value for money. ,

A very pleasant, cosy hotel in a fairly isolated, but not too far away from town position, excellent condition and kept clean, parking was plentiful and good. If I had to criticise anything it would be that the door closers on some of the doors are not properly adjusted, as a result our neighbours for the first night kept us awake until 02:00AM by constantly letting their door slam.

Excellent property, clean and spacious room. Pool was nice and warm. No small pool for kids/childern. Excellent service overall. Only one thing I didn't like were the pillows in the room too high and hard. Rest everything was nice. Food was good too.

Room not as pictured

Our stay was lovely but the room I booked was pictured as having a double bed and a sofa and called double OR twin room. (which appeared to be an optional pull out bed). The room we got had 2 double beds and was not as pictured.

If a view is important to you, this hotel is not for you. We booked a suite, we were overlooking a felt roof and hotel walls, we were moved to the room directly above, same view but from the floor above, receptionist had no real understanding of the hotel plan. The manager told us the following morning that no rooms have stretching views due to the close proximity to the hill that the hotel is built on. Spa and gym are nice. Breakfast is decent although it is self service which is fine but you do have to manoeuvre the very hot lids in a very tight space. If you buy breakfast tokens, do not forget them, the lady sent 2 guests back to the room to retrieve them, not sure why she couldnt call reception to check. Cleaner did not clean our room even though I spoke to her to let her know that we were leaving in 30 mins as well as having the please clean my room sign. There was also an empty beer bottle under our bed from previous guests. Do not normally leave negative reviews but this is advertised as 5 start on Hotels.com. Not the worst hotel but certainly not 5 Star (can only commemt on the suites)

Great staff. Great facilities. Great breakfast. Great spa! Could do with a slight freshen up and in the rooms, bathroom could do with a mop and 1 packet of biscuits had been half open plus definitely needs 2 more pillows on the beds, however, these didnt detract from having an amazing stay!

We have stayed many times at this hotel which is situated conveniently for us to visit an elderly parent. It is however becoming “tired” in its decor and the food is mediocre. Also no safely rail in the bath/shower. It’s in need of a make over.

We were only here for one night but we would definitely stay again. It was nice to be able to control the room temperature with a traditional radiator thermostat. The room was nice and warm when we arrived but at night we were able to cool it right down. Other hotels we’ve stayed at recently have been very cold. The staff went above and beyond to help us, the young gentleman on reception organised a taxi for us and was so polite and professional. The only problem was the shower didn’t seem to work quite right for shower pressure but maybe it was just our room. We look forward to staying again and hopefully will have more time to visit the spa etc.
