I would like to start by saying the the property itself and surroundings are not the reason for my negative review. The negative review comes from the service received.
Here is the background story :
This is a frustrating story and we were robbed a night’s stay.
We booked 3 nights, from March 5th to the 8th. We arrived on location at approximately 6PM on March 5th for the check-in. Upon arrival, we noticed that the hotel was completely in the dark. It turned out to be a power outage affecting only Socialtel Jaco. When asked when the power would be back, the staff member advised that they were not sure and it possibly only be tomorrow. Therefore, asking ourselves if it was worth staying at the hotel for the night (without AC, lights or power), after being told that we could get a refund if we contacted Expedia by the front desk staff member, we decided to book another hotel only for that night and come back for check-in the next day. We received a WhatsApp message at 8:40 PM that same night from the Socialtel Team advising that the power had been restored. Though, we had already been told that a refund was possible and we were already well established in another hotel. The next day we arrived on location, did our check-in and continued on with our vacation.
We arrived back home on March 9th and on March 10th, I decided I would follow up with Expedia and ask for the refund.
