This city lodge is a clone of other branches but a considerable mark up in price, because of proximity to the airport. Check in and out was efficient. The room smelled strongly of mildew and mold, the air conditioner in desperate need of service (I struggled to sleep because of the noise). Cubboards would not close and there was a peep hole in the door I had to cover with toilet paper or any passer by could look in. In general the place has an air of neglect, because why maintain standards when you are one of two hotels in walking distance from the airport.

Last minute reservation when we planned to hang at the airport for our 15 hr layover. But we couldn't recheck our luggage until the next day which meant we couldn't get back in to hang at the Lou ge for a few hrs as planned. Standard airport hotel. Staff not particularly friendly. No à la carte breakfast. Nice pool but only 2 lounge chairs for a couple of hundred rooms. Best attribute is convenience as there is a covered walkway to terminal.,

Really great hotel if you are transitting via JNB airport as we were. Staff were welcoming, hotel was clean airy bright and modern. Our room was clean and comfortable We were able to check in on arrival which was great too. Food selection was very good and the buffet breakfast was excellent!
