The only great thing about our stay was that we were on the beach. The hotel is pretty rundown with a lot of patching, for the price I was disappointed. The beds are super uncomfortable, felt like I was sleeping on a marshmallow! The hotel staff was not helpful and sometimes even a bit rude. For example, one evening after dinner we asked what time the beach access closed and the only person at the front desk had no idea, but we were at a beach hotel! And there’s nothing else to do there’s no pool and there’s no gym. Finally, the parking lot is awful. We were in a very small vehicle, but yet it was still hard to park. If the hotel was half the price I paid for it. I would understand, but it is way overpriced.

Never Again

Room had a weird odor, the staff said the smell must’ve came in when I opened the door. The stench was moldy. Room in general was rundown, worn and dirty. Cooling controls for room environment didn’t work properly it was either blowing snowballs or would cut off for lengthy periods of time and turn back on when it was 75+ in the room. The floor was sticky and sandy. This place was top dollar cost wise and the advertisement online was misleading. Won’t be going back to this hotel.

Liked : Close to the beach . Had a deck with chairs you could sit and look at the ocean view. Didn't like : Room was not ready at designated check-in time. Air conditioner was very loud. Was unable to get maid service near the end of the stay. Desk staff had to bring clean towels and take our garbage.

Perfect location, clean room, I think my only negative feelings about it was the fact that there was no dead bolt/chain you could put on the door for extra safety. Other than that everything else was good!

It worked

Older hotel. No restaurant. Room only had one desk chair, no casual chair to sit. The room opened to a courtyard with benches to watch the ocean which was nice. It is at the north end of the boardwalk. Not very close to games, rides, or junk food places if traveling with kids.

Love this hotel

This is our second time at the Henlopen and this hotel does not disappoint. It’s very clean and comfortable and so close to the beach. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The only reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars this time is housekeeping. Since it was a short trip I decided to not bring soaps and stuff and instead of shampoo they gave us 2 body lotions and there was no water to make the one coffee that was left in the room

Ok, but dated and other disappointments

Good location but the property is dated. This was our second stay. No ventilation in the bathroom makes for a hot and humid situation in the room after showers. My daughter and I were profiled and questioned as individuals they assumed were not staying at the property. It could only have been our appearance. I have long hair and she was dressed in her cosplay outfit for beach photos. That was a huge disappointment and we will never return. Too many other nice options.

Great location with boardwalk access. Walls are very thin and beds are uncomfortable. Nice to have a parking garage but the garage is tiny with hard to get into spots. For the price, it's a good stay for one night but wouldn't stay for anything longer.
