Holidays in Mong Kok
Say hell yes to new adventures in Mong Kok! Whether you're travelling to Hong Kong for a long time or wild time, this neighbourhood is a great base for discovering what this city has to offer. With some fabulous things to see and do here, it's not hard to understand why 7,000,000 people call this city home. Once you've hit the tarmac at Shenzhen International Airport and grabbed your suitcase from the carousel, Mong Kok is a drive of 50 kilometres to the southeast. From central Hong Kong, it's 4 kilometres north.
A number of this city's leading attractions are located near Mong Kok, and Soho and the International Finance Centre are two of the very best. Don't forget to put the Madame Tussauds and Lan Kwai Fong on your schedule too. While you're in town, consider visiting some other neighbourhoods to experience more of what Hong Kong offers. Tai Kok Tsui and Goldfish Market are great recommendations that are within close reach.
Of course, among the first stops you should make is Ocean Park. This renowned attraction is found just 8 kilometres south of Mong Kok.
Getting cabin fever in Mong Kok? Then get out and discover Pacific Place and the University of Hong Kong, just a couple of highlights in the centre of the city. Alternatively, have a wander around Victoria Park and Flower Market.
The area's cultural sites, such as the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Edge Gallery, the Hong Kong Arts Centre and the Grotto Fine Art, have to be seen!
Regional art galleries like the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Asia Art Archive, the University Museum and Art Gallery and the Cattle Depot Artist Village give you a glimpse into the creative history of the area. Why not check if there's an opening planned and discover some of the remarkable works?
Sometimes it's the main exhibits that stand out. Other times it's an under-appreciated treasure that's been relegated to a dark corner. Keep an eye out for both at the Hong Kong Space Museum, the Dialogue In The Dark, the Police Museum and the Hong Kong Science Museum.
You can't quite beat the atmosphere of excitement when a live show is due to get under way. Take your seat and watch the curtains go up at the City Hall Concert Hall, the Sunbeam Theatre, the Yau Ma Tei Theatre and the Ko Shan Theatre.
There's nothing like a holiday with energetic kids to help you see life in a new light. Embrace your inner child and have fun at the Victoria Peak Tram, the Hong Kong Central Library and the City Hall Public Library.
Are you holidaying with the kids but lost for ideas of things for them to do? Middle Road Children’s Playground, Lung Fu Shan Country Garden and the Hong Kong Observation Wheel are some popular places they're bound to love.
Head outside and admire the views at Sky 100, Lion Rock Country Park, Lion's Rock and High West Peak.
To discover some native flora and fauna, drive out to the Hong Kong Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the Charter Garden.
If the chaos of the city is getting a bit much, head to one of the nearby local parks. Kowloon Park, Fa Hui Park, Kowloon Walled City Park and Hong Kong Park are wonderful places to kick back and relax.
A trip away is a great time to splash out a bit and pick up a souvenir or two. Be sure to drop into Habour City, Nathan Road Shopping District, Ladies' Market and Times Square Shopping Mall!
You never know what you'll find at Bank of China Tower, the Avenue of Stars, International Commerce Centre and Government House. These historic places have plenty of stories to tell.
Local religious sites, such as the Wong Tai Sin Temple, the Man Mo Temple, the Tin Hau Temple and the Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Centre, give you the opportunity to reflect on life's big questions in a serene setting.

Metropark Hotel Kowloon
I did not use the airport shuttle (I didn't even know about it!). The breakfast buffet is awesome and worth the extra UK$100 each day. You can get everything and eat as much as you want. I never got a chance to check out the Metropark Kowloon Club on the 17th floor, and wish I knew more about that ...
