The receptionist is good & courteous, yet the room and amenities are old & poorly upkept, they also need to put a mobile heater in the room to keep it warm.
There is a big lounge area with various drink & snack which is convenient but breakfast has to be booked 2 days in advance which is not mentioned in the booking page.
While I was there, only one member of staff was manning the front desk as well undertaking other responsibilities around the hotel, but a phone was left at the front desk so you could call when you needed assistance. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and enjoyed the retro-feel. The free drinks and snacks in the lounge area were a nice touch and I loved the outdoor Onsen.
The rooms had a classic "Showa era" style, which gave them a great atmosphere, and were quite spacious for two people. The onsen was on the small side but clean and nice, with a pretty outdoor area. There was a lounge area with free drinks, nuts, and dried fruit. It was a decent value. I'd stay there again.
Great location close to train station and town (and Monkeys). Very helpful and friendly staff and a great breakfast. Rooms are a comfortable and unique fusion of Japanese and western features. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Great place, had a very comfortable stay. Good onsen and complimentary drinks and snacks. Ideal for skiing Shiga kogen or Nozawa onsen. Perfect for the snow monkeys. Will visit again.
