The location of Melrose is great - close to the French Quarter and Frenchman Street but not right in the thick of things. The rooms were super clean and spacious. We reserved one of the Napoleon Queen rooms - I believe they were the only ones remaining. They are located in a room adjacent to the Mansion. People who are sensitive to noise and light should consider booking another room or location. 2 of the 4 rooms back up to the street, making it quite noisy with the older walls and door. There is also a security light outside that makes it very hard to darken the room at night. The water in the shower does not get above luke warm, at best, so if you like hot showers, this may not be the best bet for you. Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were given two different times for breakfast so we almost missed that one day.

Staff was great - only downside was the steps up to the room - hard with luggage. Room could have used a comfortable chair. Breakfast was supposed to begin at 9 and at 9 am there were slim picking left. Staff was truly lovely.

Ms. Emily made our stay! We absolutely loved her charm and her friendliness!!!! She was awaiting our arrival and shared everything about the area. Provided restaurant recommendations. I was so happy to see her the next evening as well. The mansion is charming and we booked the balcony suite! So glad we did! It was large and comfortable. It’s a historic building, so it could use a little TLC, but that’s expected! The pool area is absolutely beautiful! The bathroom was clean and new and extremely large. Surprisingly quiet area, approximately a mile walk from the busy French Quarter. I’m definitely going to come back again! I hope Ms. Emily is still there! Loved our stay! Please send her our compliments!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Melrose Mansion! Emily @ front desk was amazing. She was welcoming, gave us detailed lists of activities, tours, and the best home style, feel good, cultural restaurants and bars in NOLA! Thank God she was there to inform us at the start of our trip or I would’ve followed my extremely touristy itinerary and probably been underwhelmed! Our room looked modern, was spacious, we had a kitchen, sitting area and the bed was so comfortable! There were clearly upgrades so the bathroom shower was amazing! The cleanliness was a 10/10 too! We were located less than a mile from Bourbon St, the French Market and literally everywhere we wanted to visit, eat or had to meet for the tours, so we walked. If I have one critique about the room, is adding another mirror in the room outside of the bathroom. Overall 10/10 experience, Emily is the best & my husband and I will be retuning to NOLA & staying @ Melrose Mansion again! Loved it!!!

The place has no sign. Found it by address only. Weird layout. It has 2 separate buildings separated by a random house. The building is very old and seemed like an old mansion of a rich man. But every building in French quarter is like this. Inside was clean, maids kept the room clean, shower was finicky to operate, good a/c, breakfast was just variety of bread/cereals/juice/coffee, elevator was slower than walking, our room floor (4th) had no elevator (the most expensive one), location on east edge of french quarter so a bit of walking to get any restaurants/bars in the quarter but very close to Frenchmen street (jazz clubs/bars), liquor store right next to it, no microwave in the room although our room was with kitchen. Despite some negatives, it was a great experience. Unless you stay in modern franchise hotels such as Hilton, don't expect modern building as there ain't one in French quarter. If you plan to hang out in French quarter mainly, I would get a hotel in or west edge to French quarter.

Someone kept shaking the handle of my front door. I contacted the front desk and they said it was the people staying on the floor above me, and they must be getting their rooms confused. It happened multiple times throughout the night. As a solo traveler, I felt VERY unsafe. Plus the drains in the hotel are backed up. The water would create a pool while I'm showering.

Beautiful building in a great location, right on the edge of the French Quarter. We arrived late, they made sure someone was there to let us in. Room was gorgeous and spacious with a beautiful bathroom. Free breakfast was nice and convenient. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Emily was awesome and hilarious. We would definitely return!

If you are looking for an old New Orleans feel in a place to stay, Melrose is a good place to stay at. The high ceilings and the old hardwood floor had a charm to it.

Staff was EXCELLENT! Received an upgraded suite, and the room was very comfortable for our weeklong stay. The location was great. Only a few minutes to the heart of the French quarter, but far enough away to some peace. Buffa’s next door served as the “hotel bar” for us, and it was excellent! I would certainly stay again!
