Fantastic character hotel set in the foothills of the Black Forest. Friendly helpful staff and good dining in the evenings. Breakfast was good with a decent choice. The area is quiet and perfect for touring and walking, but also well linked for a train or bus into Freiburg.

Peaceful Getaway

We had such a great time relaxing in such a quiet and beautiful setting. Each staff person we encountered was cheerful, friendly, and helpful. It was the perfect place to celebrate our 29th anniversary! Our dinners were fantastic, and the servers were warm and accommodating. The only thing that was missing was dish soap in the kitchenette. It would make washing the pots/pans easier.

Best part of my trip to Germany

As same as what i said to the family when we checked out, this is the best part of my 7 days trip and 3 cities in Germany. The hotel is managed in a perfect way, you can see the history at every corner but still it is clean and comfortable. It is just right for a relax stay who want to get away from city and crowd, a pity is we didn't get time to have dinner at the restaurant, but always leave something for next trip, right? I will definitely come back with family to Goldenen Adler

Amazing

This family owned and operated hotel is absolutely lovely with an amazing group of people on staff. They go out of their way to be accommodating and helpful and are always happy to see you and ask about your day. The room I stayed in was large and impeccably clean, with antique furniture and a very comfortable bed. It had a nice large bathroom and also large windows with a beautiful view of the town.

Very good hotel/Gasthof in rural Freiburg (some 10 minutes from downtown). We really enjoyed our stay. Nice walkways around the little village where you can relax after a day on the Autobahn. Good dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast also was very good. Highly recommended.

Charming hotel

The staff was very courteous, spoke English, and helped make our stay very enjoyable. The restaurant was excellent and very reasonably priced. Many antiques gave the hotel atmosphere. Because it is an older hotel, there is no elevator which makes the third floor a climb for elderly folk. Hotel offered bus/train transport into nearby Freiberg.

Awesome stay!

Clean and updated room, very friendly owners, lovely surroundings and the most delicious German food at the hotel restaurant! We were very satisfied. Breakfast spread was good :)
