This property was wonderful it was full of wild animals like monkeys parrots iguanas Etc there was lots of choices in the buffet stuff was very friendly the keep up of the hotel was good we also love private Cove Beach it was very nice to swim in. We will come back to Occidental Resort.

Our group of 10 stayed in 3 rooms and had a disappointing experience from the start. Poor communication at check-in, rude front desk staff, and no towel cards given. The buffet food was barely edible, and the staff at the taco/pizza spot was rude when we asked to be seated as a group—half our party waited 20 minutes after the others were served. Only the pool was enjoyable. Dinner reservations were limited and the food was average at best. On the last day, our toilet stopped working and it took multiple calls—including to security—before anyone helped. Service was slow, unhelpful, and frustrating throughout. The resort is also far from town, so taxis are expensive. We made the best of it as a family, but not because of the resort. We won’t return. Look at Google for an extended version of this review because Expedia doesn’t let you use as many letters.

The staff was excellent. But unfortunately we had to move to another room because the bathroom sink fell. It looked outdated. The food was great too, except at the steakhouse reservation, the steaks were very hard.

Great Location Near Xcaret, But Service and Cleanliness Need Major Improvement The biggest advantage of this property is its excellent location — it’s just a short distance from Xcaret Park, which makes it ideal for families or couples planning to explore one of the area’s most popular attractions. The convenience of being so close to the park cannot be overstated. Unfortunately, the quality of the stay overall didn’t match the expectations set by the location. Upon arrival, our room was not properly cleaned. There was dust on surfaces, the bathroom didn’t feel fully sanitized, and overall the room showed clear signs of wear and tear. The building itself looks outdated, and the rooms reflect a lack of upkeep and investment in comfort. One of the biggest disappointments was the food and service. The buffets were extremely limited in selection, with little variety day-to-day. Worse than the food was the service in the buffet and restaurant areas. The staff consistently lacked basic customer service skills and attentiveness. We often had to wait a long time to be acknowledged, drinks went unrefilled, and used plates were not cleared promptly. There was very little engagement or effort to create a welcoming dining experience, which is surprising for an all-inclusive resort. It felt like the dining staff was either overwhelmed or undertrained — either way, it directly impacted our experience. This resort was absolutely beautiful. They have different restaurants to choose from, just make sure to make reservations for the restaurants when you get there or you’ll only have the buffet, pizzeria or taco stand option. The pools were beautiful and DJ always had great music playing. We went during seaweed season but the resort was great on making sure the beach was clear of seaweed. Room was nice and soft beds only thing is first night had to call for restock on bottles of water but after that no problem. Felt very safe. So much to do. Definitely going back.
