Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities
I recently stayed at the Sonesta Hotel (1440 S White Oak Dr, Waukegan, IL) and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. While the property itself appeared clean at first glance, the condition of the room and furnishings was unacceptable.
Upon entering, I immediately noticed:
Old and outdated furniture
A bed that was not properly made
And most concerning, roaches in the bathroom area, which I captured on video
As someone who traveled to celebrate an important milestone—my son’s Navy graduation—this was not only disheartening but also stressful. I had hoped for a peaceful and clean environment but instead had to leave the room due to its poor condition and sleep in my car while trying to find alternate accommodations.
Given the circumstances, I would not recommend this location unless major improvements are made to cleanliness, pest control, and room quality. I have requested a full refund and hope that management takes this matter seriously so no one else has to go through this during such an important time.
