Courtney at check in was very welcoming and conversational. The room was very clean with very well received upgrades. The roof deck was an added treat to see around the area. Hugh, the Manager was very nice and cheery during the continental breakfast.

The Mark Spencer hotel is the worst hotel in portland. The hotel itself is a boring nightmare with no character. However, it's the staff that makes it a horrific place to stay. When I stayed there for one night they lost $1000 worth of my belonings. I had just fled across country from an abusive relationship and could only bring 2 bags and my dog. They refused to compensate me in any real way, even though I had checked my luggage with them and they were responsible for keeping it. The manager is a night mare man who implied nothing I owned could be worth more that $100. I am 1000 miles from home and don't even have clothes. They also lost mine and my dogs medications, which are not replaceable. If you are staying in Portland, at least go across the street to the Clyde, it's a better hotel, with better staff, than won't try to ruin your livelihood.

I absolutely love this hotel. The convenient location to PDX and the shuttle to/from is only one of the reasons. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The breakfast is above standard and always delicious. I highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling in/out of PDX.

Paint failure in the bathroom, had chips falling off while showering. The carpet trim came off with no hesitation.

Great stay and staff. Will stay here again next year for our dance weekend
