Fan-gate

The staff seemed to have started on the job the day before. It took hours (and I'm not joking, it took 2hrs) for a staff member to bring up a box fan our first night. That's after we waited at the front desk for about 30 min while we were passed from three staff members to each other. When we called down to the desk to inquire why the fan was taking a while to arrive, the staff member at the desk seemed surprised by our request as if she'd forgotten. When the fan finally arrived, it was broken and literally exploded in a shower of sparks and plastic pieces when we plugged it in. The fan motor was so old it shook through the brittle plastic base. What a mess! Around 12:30am they finally brought us another fan which worked. We needed the fan because the hotel rooms are not well sound insulated and it was quite loud at night.

Overall, great stay!

The hotel is really lovely. I was a little disappointed that the courtyard water feature didn’t work.. it’s a focal point of the whole thing! But the room was very clean and put together. I sound like Goldilocks but the beds were too soft for me!

Not the same as it once was

The Hotels.com price is the same price as if you were a member of the hotel. I have been staying at this hotel for years, and one of the perks that I’ve taken advantage of was the complementary hot tea and coffee station in the morning. They no longer have that amenity in the second floor lobby. Everything is for purchase only at the restaurant or bar. Valet is $55 per night, and that seemed a bit higher than it usually is.

The stay at Hotel Valencia was excellent. The hotel staff were professional and friendly. They did an outstanding job in remembering you by last name. The hotel property was beautiful and it smell incredible inside the hotel. I will most definitely stay here next time I visit San Antonio.
