Very good

We purchased a day pass to enjoy the beautiful hot springs at Rio Perlas Thermal Resort & Spa, and it was absolutely worth it! The pools were relaxing and well-maintained, and we also went on a scenic hike that made the experience even more special. One of the highlights was visiting the farm and getting to pet the animals—it added such a fun, unique touch. We had an amazing time overall and definitely plan to return when we’re back in Costa Rica!
The surroundings was very relaxing. I would go back.

Beautiful but not exactly like the description
Hotel Rio Perlas is in a beautiful remote setting. (In other words, don't plan on eating out anywhere but at the restaurant and bring any snacks you want with you.) The property is lush, green and tropical. Hidden among the vegetation you will find small concrete hot tubs. There are enough to go around so you don't have to share. There are also 2 large pools, one hot spring fed and the other one is cool. Unlike the amenities listed, there was no down comforter (who needs it in the tropics anyway), no were there blackout curtains and the toiletries certainly weren't "designer." Once I got over the feeling of being deceived, we had a very nice stay, in spite of the moldy room smell. (Hard to solve that one in the tropics). The staff was pleasant. The breakfast was fine but not spectacular. I had to ask the woman attending the restaurant twice to bring more fruit and silverware. (She was busy talking on her cell phone.) If you love natural beauty and have expectations for 3 star and not 5, this is a peaceful place to stay.
We rented the Presidential Suite and it was impressive. The grounds with the hidden hot springs and steep hike to the waterfall are really enjoyable. Being off season, the place was a ghost town. I get it that the hotel wants to save on resources when there are so few guests but they took it to a ridiculous level. We had no towels in our room which they kindly brought us but then we had no swim towels so we had to use our shower towels. The restaurant was empty and when we were pointed to a table that had no less than six dead bugs on the table cloth, the waitress got an attitude when we asked her to wipe them off and instead grabbed up the table cloth and all and slammed down a paper napkin holder rather than give is the cloth ones. My wine glass was cracked and my water glass had lipstick on it. The small plate of pasta in oil was $15. The waitress gave us 2 bottles of wine to choose from and just set the bottle down without opening it, pouring it, or having us taste it. When my son went to the lobby for water they told him no, because they just mopped. Don’t get me started on asking for a wine bottle opener for a room with a wet bar, fridge, and wine glasses. If you are going to strip it down to no service/awful service, you should simply close for the slow month, not treat your few guests like they are a nuisance.
We loved our stay here. It is kind of out of the way to get to, but there was really no reason to go anywhere. The grounds are amazing and we loved swimming in the hot springs pool. Restaurant on site had delicious dinner and amazing breakfast (typical fare, but buffet style and high quality).

Bad Food here, better places for similar value
Personally I liked the nature, and the relaxing sounds of the river, however in terms of hotel services there're shady actions that make you dislike this place. Food, very bad. You have free breakfast but don't expect good taste, temperature or variety on this one, seems that the hotel want to save a lot of money on their free breakfast so, low your expectations to a regular hostel meal. Buffet Breakfast Serving portions are managed by staff so you don't go crazy with it; Restaurant menu is very limited and portions very small I do reccomend to leave the place and eat somewhere else, is a touris area and you can find much better prices and local flavors around. Main gate close at 9pm , if you leave your room for dinner be aware that if you don't come before 9pm you will end up sleeping in your car./ Lack of proper information to find places: Theres suppose to be a waterfall, we walked and almost end up lost in the mountain because there's no clear path to this place, the receptionist will explain a cartoon map with the location and thats all you have. If you're looking for a relaxing place for a massage o spa experience go to San Carlos, this is not even close with the quality you may find there.
Beautiful property, terrible food.
Still chewing on a piece of premium steak, that took over 50 minutes to deliver, after waiting a reslly long time for my order to de taken. Dinner wasn’t better, Cordon-Blue piece of chicken was dissatisfying
Speechless. I have stayed so many places in my life and this is the most magical. I sprained my ankle our first day leaving our room. The owner scooped me up put me in a car and Viktor the owner at PURA PORA took me and gave us the most amazing experience. Then gave me a walking stick to get around with. Pura pora is a MUST GO! RIO PERLAS is the most peaceful romantic and friendliest resort Ive ever been too. And by far my favorite spot in Costa Rica. Our second day we ran around town and came back and soaked in the thermal pools by the river. Perfect temperature! Our room 139 is next to a waterfall that pools into a large pond with an outlook. Its located in Tapanti and you can hike around without leaving. Viktor also sculpted the most incredible art pieces around the resort that are fun to find. All in all it was the most memorable and sacred experience that I will cherish for all my life. Cant wait to come back.
The place is so beautiful, You must be ready for walking up and down hill. I recommended to anyone. but....
I was not too thrill with the housekeeping. the place is huge so I suggest to have a golf cart picking up people to take them different places.
I was disappointed on our last night at the restaurant, we had bad service. all other days was fine.
I also recommend to set some bird feeders around to attract birds.
We also had a great time.

Good for one night
The hotel description says 2 restaurants but one was closed when we were there. The premises were nice but could use a little updating. The bed was a little hard for my tastes.
This is our second stay here, the first being six years ago for our sons wedding. The resort is a small piece of paradise nestling in the rain forest with a large varied selection of accommodation ranging from the large presidential bungalow with two bedrooms, spa bath and lounge with a bar! to the smaller bungalows /cabinas and wooden cabins, plus two blocks of apartments. The whole resort nestles in several acres of manicured rainforest with well cared for pathways and gardens and the hot thermally fed pool is wonderful to swim in and relax around.
The restaurant and bar is positioned higher up to benefit from views over the the resort and offers Breakfast lunch and dinner.
The area around Orosi valley is part of the oldest in Costa Rica and the drive around lake Cachi offers fantastic scenery and views.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, all in all a wonderful experience.
