Former glory, not keeping up with the times.

Old historic hotel. There are alternatives in town that offer much better value or luxury. Small rooms. Gym subpar. Shower/tub combo did not work very well. We were offered to be upgraded to a room with smaller beds tho, that would not have worked for us. Way too expensive for what it offers.

After starting 10 days La Fonda Taos 8 decided to treat my self to a night at La Fonda Santa Fe. Talk about a change in routine! Sorry Santa Fe other. I'm not going to see your faces nor your enchanted sky until check out!

The hotel is beautiful and central to Old Town. There was a guided tour explaining the history of the Inn as well as show casing the beautiful artwork throughout. The staff were friendly and the restaurants were excellent.

Check in was smooth and the front desk was very nice. The room appeared clean. The next morning we found a roach in our room. We told the front desk immediately and he really didn’t care. He did offer an apology or an explanation on what they would do to clean the room further. We checked out that day. There is a lot of homeless downtown. I used the public tested near the cafe and there was a homeless person washing up in there. She was friendly but it isn’t really something I would expect when staying at a hotel. We will not be staying there again.

My wife and I only had 1 night in Santa Fe, were seeing a show at the Lensic. But the La Fonda was perfect in terms of location to the old plaza, shops, restaurants, etc. Would definitely stay there again.
