Staff very rushed at check in and only one lift working. I found the air con difficult to use. I was very cold and it was set on too.low a temperature for the evening.
A great sized room with great facilities the shower was very powerful and much needed after a busy day and night. The breakfast was lovely lots of choice and we would definitely stay again. We did manage to park at the hotel as well which was great.
When we arrived in the room it smelt like canabis/tabaco. The window was broken and open so the room was cold.
It took me 2 hrs and had to argue with the inexperienced staff to cal their on call manager and get someone to fix the window.
They knew abkut the window before letting the maintenance man go home as he walked straight past me. The poor man had to come back because the staff refused to pass on the message.
The bed was not confortable and in the morning it took staff 20 minutes to find the allergy sheeet so i could find out what I could eat with a dairy intolerance. I asked nicly if the cheif could do a fried egg as the scrambled eggs contained milk and was told the hotle has a policy of not being able to offer this. This was one of the worst stays I have had in the uk.
The property was very clean and the breakfast buffet was good. The first room we were given didn't have working electricity, so they moved us. During the first night we realized that there was something faulty with the air conditioner as it kept shutting off. We told the front desk clerk in the morning and they said that they would have it fixed. When we returned in the evening, nothing had been done about it and the front desk knew nothing about it. They had someone reset the air conditioner from the main control box but we continued to have problems for the rest of the night. We let the front desk again know in the morning, and they simply said "sorry."
Usual Holiday Inn Express room, so our expectations were met. Good value for money and relevant space for a short stay. for longer trips the storage space would have been too small. A lot of limescale in the bathroom, making it appear less clean.
I wish I had something good to say. The hotel is in drugsville, not at all pleasant to walk around. The reception service was slow. The lift (singular) was tiny and only arrived every 10 minutes. The room was okay. The bar service was non-existent (the receptionist was also the barman and the chef). The breakfast experience was terrible, with dirty cutlery, missing crockery, broken coffee machines and missing breakfast items.
Shame, I normally find this chain perfectly bland and acceptable.
Our room was alright. Enough space for a family of 3. Tidy. Only problem was the bathroom gets flooded after shower as the seals weren't tightly fitted so water was just flowing off the cubicle. Also found a fe of the pillows with what seems like make up stains.
