The location of the hotel is excellent, literally a 1 minute walk out the front door from St. Mark's Square, while also nicely positioned to walk most anywhere on Venice. The staff were very competent and helpful and the breakfasts were especially good. When we checked in, we were escorted out the main door of the hotel to a 2nd location for the hotel (located 2 meters/yards from the door of the main hotel), and the room they presented to us was fine, yet smaller than we expected. It is common for older hotels in Europe to have smaller rooms, our room was OK, yet only a few feet of extra space around 2 of the sides of the bed, a bit more around the 3rd side. This was something less than I had anticipated based on the website, which led me to return to the front desk and have a polite, respectful conversation with the gentleman who checked us in. While they did not have any other rooms to move us to that day, they said they could move us to a larger room - and possibly one with a view - for the following 2 nights of our stay for a slight additional charge. We felt that was reasonable, they moved us to a wonderful room the next day with an awesome view of the canal area below, and were very pleased to pay the slight additional amount for each of the next 2 nights. My point in sharing this is to confirm it is a very nice hotel to stay in and there are 2 slightly different classes of rooms to choose from. FYI, we willdefinitely stay there again the next time we vist Venice.

The hotel is well situated and the front desk staff is professional and welcoming and charming I was dissatisfied with my room, I asked for a triple The first room had a very unpleasant odor and we were quickly shown to a different room. The third bed was not a bed, it was a couch made up as a bed, hard and uncomfortable

No joke...this place is steps from St. Marks Square! Relatively easy to find. This is an older hotel so dont expect modern furniture and fixtures but the AC works (a little too well, we had to turn it up a few times lol) and thats all that mattered to me. Beds are firm but i didnt mind it. Breakfast was ok but it was complimentary, you do have to "check in" with the waitstaff and tell them the room number. I would definitely stay here again

Staying at Hotel Cavalletto was truly a wonderful Venetian experience. The location couldn’t be more perfect—just steps away from St. Mark’s Square and right on the canal, where gondolas pass by throughout the day. Waking up to the sound of the water and the charm of Venice right outside the window felt magical. The staff was welcoming, helpful, and always ready to assist .The rooms were comfortable and carried that classic Venetian charm.Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, with enough variety to start the day right before exploring the city. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend Hotel Cavalletto for anyone visiting Venice who wants convenience, comfort, and a touch of Venetian magic.

Splendid oasis

We stayed here for the views and general location and both were absolutely splendid. We arrived in the middle of the day (around 90°F / 32–33°C), and as soon as we stepped inside, we felt instantly relieved. The front desk (really friendly and professional) also helped us book a water taxi that comes straight to the door; super convenient and so much better than the water bus. Breakfast was also great! The ladies checking room numbers and managing the floor are just lovely and so kind. Lastly, for the location. 10/10. You can see the basilica, go eat lunch, come back and freshen up, then walk over to the doge’s palace (because it’s almost a stone’s throw away). We highly recommend this hotel and will only book here in the future. Cheers!

Food options. None. Noisy due to the gondoliers. I felt unsafe on the tiny elevator box. I am claustrophobic, though. Very inconvenient to get there and get out. $$$$ RT to the airport. However, close to all the San Marco attractions. Dark pathways at nite. For solo travelers.
