The location is excellent and the refurbished parts are very good - however, the hotel was listed as completely refurbished- it is not. The bathroom we had was awful, many cracks through the sink, the bath had been coated with something that was all peeling off, so it would be impossible for it to be clean, generally not fit for use.
The porter that took our cases in, was unfriendly & gave us the incorrect door code, so we couldn’t get in!
We were moved when I told reception staff about our issue, but to a smaller room
( not what we booked). The shower in the new bathroom didn’t work at all the first morning. The kettle we were given (after asking for one) arrived with no tea/coffee etc & didn’t work.
Although advertised as having WIFI- there wasn’t any anywhere in the hotel, so we incurred unexpected roaming costs.
On checkout day, we paid our bill & were asked to get our cases from the 4th floor- there is only 1 lift, servicing all of the rooms & it is painfully slow to arrive! We rode to the 4th floor, got to our room & couldn’t get in, we went back to reception - to the same unhelpful man, who informed us it’s because it’s after 11- (11.05!) even though he told us to go & get our bags!!!
This was our 6th trip to Venice, we love it there- but sadly this hotel didn’t live up to the other hotels we have previously stayed in.
