There was no elevator; there was no 24/7 receptionist; no one cared to help with the luggages since there was no elevator during check out; the front door are always left open at night due to guests arriving late, and made me feel unsafe: things i liked: the room and the hotel was clean and near the vaporetto.
We stayed at Rio Hotel for several nights, and our stay was very pleasant. The hotel staff are friendly, and the staff member who checked us in also helped take one of the suitcases up to our room. There is no elevator, so keep in mind that you will have to transport everything you have up at least one flight of stairs. That said, having a third story view on the little square outside the hotel was great. Our 18-month daughter loved to people watch from the window as we prepared for the day.
The rooms were updated and clean. And one the best conveniences of this hotel is its proximity to San Marco. During a chilly January week, this hotel was warm, and aside from the lack of an elevator (which is understandable given the age of the buildings) we had a wonderful stay.
The hotel is in a nice location and we never had to worry about water HOWEVER that’s where the positives end. The room had ZERO sound proofing. Like you can hear your neighbor pee. The room constantly sounded like someone was trying to open the door. The bathroom was nice other than the fact it was a SAUNA. There was no way of turning off the heated towel rack which made the room VERY WARM. I was here in late November so I could not imagine having to sleep here in the summer. The coolest the room got was 22. The charger port on one side was broken so when we bought it up the front desk lady aruged with us that it was a previous child had broken it and it wasn’t their fault. Whatever but weird to ague when we were just bring it up. There’s not a lot of table space so the floor is your friend. Also last grievance was the mattress was VERY tilted on one side and I was constantly slipping off the bed. Spend your money somewhere else and do not stay here if you want to sleep.
You can’t have a poorly located hotel in Venice. Everything is a walkable distance, but if you are looking for a quiet place, this location wasn’t bad. The staff was friendly and nice.
Venice is a pretty dirty city/island. It floods each day with the rising tides. Cool experience and decent food.
Definitely check out the other islands if you have seen all there is to see in Venice- Murano and Burano. You can see both in the same day.
If I ever returned to Venice, I wouldn’t mind staying at this hotel again.

Hotel location is excellent as it is near the St. Marks square. Unfortunately it is very noisy due to traffic. The rooms are small but we expect it so no surprise. Breakfast is served on the second floor in a small room so you need to let the front desk know of what time you want to eat. Unfortunately the hotel doesn’t have air conditioning so we left the windows open and got bitten by mosquitoes. Overall, we like the location.

Rooms were small, no elevator to the second level. Area noisy until late at night. You have to walk with luggage from water bus station to hotel. Hotel was clean and service was good.
Best location in a small bustling public square just 3mins walk from the main square (windows also open and overlook the small public square which is amazing). The room was small (to be expected in Europe) but very clean, modern and comfortable and it was a good layout for the size. Just be mindful there is no lift so be prepared to walk your luggage up at least one level/flight of stairs.

The room was extremely small. You could barely get around the bed without banging yourself on something. We stayed 2 nights. 8/28 & 8/29. The day clerk who checked us in was not very pleasant or welcoming. As a matter of fact, he was training a young woman. It was her second day there. The hospitality industry is not his forte and he should look for another job! The younger gentleman who was there in the evening and who checked us out on the 29th was very pleasant and accommodating.
Nice little hotel! Rooms very clean and comfortable beds. Would book again, however, would request a room away from the breakfast area which was busy and loud early in the morning.
