Great pub food, really friendly staff and clean rooms. Couldn’t recommend Penny Hedge enough. Breakfast was good value for money too. Right beside Whitby Gin if you want to go in for a tour. Walk down into Whitby was easy enough but uphill on the way back!
Excellent staff lovely food breakfasts and evening meals fabulous comfy bed sheets and pillows had the best sleep in a long time room very clean easy walk into town plus free parking
Brillant stay lovely warm room powerful shower very clean. Will definitely be back food at breakfast and the evening meal were excellent. Kirsty from the bar and restaurant couldn't do enough for people she is a credit to this establishment.
The quality of the rooms is comparable with the Premier Inns. The breakfast on offer is reasonably priced and of a decent quality. The only drawback was that the restaurant seemed to have insufficient stock; several times that had run out of basic supplies.
The management appears to be cutting corners and reducing facilities since the latter part of last year.
The accommodation is very tired and requires redecoration.

Last year tea pots were used alongside table service - tea pots are no longer available so tea bags and hot water is available on the continental breakfast area which soon becomes messy and causes unnecessary queues.
Dog bowls are stored on shelves at the same level as the continental breakfast approximately 18 inches from the bread.
Serving staff were seen petting dogs Sat at the bar then immediately served food to customers without washing their hands.
Standards have slipped significantly since September 2024.
