My river view room was spectacular. The Detroit skyline, Belle Isle to the Ambassador. What a panorama. Good desk for working, comfortable easy chair, nice coffee bar. I could live here.

Your classic poorly-maintained hotel in a good location. The river view is awesome and they know it so they don't put much work into it. There was a young woman on the evening shift who has been trained to lie to customers because someone somehow owns the parking lot across the street. Little scam they are running for $19 a night. This seems penny wise and pound foolish. Yes they got our $19... but no we won't stay here next time we're driving between Chicago and Toronto, which is often enough (I have to drive back in a couple days, for example). I just don't understand the point of alienating customers for such little windfall. Times are tough I suppose and tourists who blow in are fresh meat for these savvy receptionists. There was no kettle or water (my partner adds with indignation). The staff in the morning were very professional and understanding and kind. Great people, the cleaning staff as well. So in the end we understood that the lack of water or kettle was not an oversight, but was actually by design. What cheap inexperienced management this place must have. Not too surprising though.

The bathroom had hair on the floor, around the toilet was dirty and hair in the shower. Parking was also not convenient and cost $17 a day…..it’s off property. When we were checking in there was a huge lineup….there was two people working at the desk. The manager came out to help, started to check people in then the phone rang and he literally disappeared and didn’t come back to help the person he was checking in. Left the person standing there for who knows how long.
